Sri Lanka, without their stars and Mathews have beaten Suid Afrika on their own turf - Kusal Perera batted 10th wicket stand of 78 of 95 and scored a total 153 to beat SA by 1 wicket - that is test cricket so fuk T20 that is drama. 12 4s and 5 6s in his 153 against Steyn , Rabada and Oliver some of the best pacers - well done them

Some brutal big hitting in Grenada yesterday. Fourth One Day International between England and hosts W. Indies: Watched England's innings then foolishly went to bed thinking the Windies had no chance and it was all over..



Some ridiculous stats from the game:-

• 46 sixes were hit in the match, the most in an ODI.
• England hit a record 24 maximums in their innings before West Indies almost bettered the effort with 22 in their reply.
• 807 runs were scored in the match; the third-highest aggregate total in ODI history.
• Buttler scored the most sixes in an ODI innings for England with 12.
• Buttler went from 51 to his hundred in 15 balls.
• He took 31 balls to move from his half century to 150. The fastest ODI hundred was made by South Africa's AB de Villiers from 31 balls.
• Gayle scored his hundred from 51 balls, his fastest ODI century.
• Morgan became the first England batsman to pass 6,000 one-day runs.
• Gayle became the second West Indian to score 10,000 ODI runs during his knock, following Brian Lara.

Jos Buttler smashed a brilliant century as England edged a thrilling fourth one-day international against West Indies in Grenada despite Chris Gayle's breathtaking 162.
The hosts almost chased down England's 418-6 - Buttler hitting 150 off just 77 balls - but the tourists held their nerve for a 29-run win as leg-spinner Adil Rashid took four wickets in the 48th over.
For large parts of West Indies' astonishing chase, it appeared Gayle would see them home - the opener hammering 14 sixes in a memorable knock.
Hopes of a historic home win were dented when Ben Stokes dismissed Gayle with 16 overs remaining - the left-hander bowled attempting one big shot too many - but Carlos Brathwaite and Ashley Nurse continued the onslaught with an entertaining partnership of 88.

Pitch Report
The match will be held at the Punjab Cricket Association, IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.
India have played 14 ODIs at the venue where they have won 10 and lost four.

Mohali is known to favour the pacers and if it stays true, then an exciting contest between bat and ball could be on offer.

The last ODI played at this ground was in 2017 where India scored a mammoth 392/4 and Rohit Sharma notched up a double hundred (208).
Australia will have fond memories of this ground as well after beating India by four wickets the last time these two sides met in 2013.

Both teams had notched 300+ runs in that match.

For me, India batting first, should get across the line.

India are 0/184 after 30 overs.

30 overs is an indicator of what the double could be after 50 ... so India is aiming for 368?

I went to bed before India had stumps and thought, with their start they were no chance of being outscored.

The Aussies are finally starting to show some form with a one day series win over number 1 ranked India.

Having said that they still need an opener and Smith back in the side.

England national selector Ed Smith announced the predicted provisional squad of 15 for the World Cup, leaving the door open for Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan to force their way in during the five-match one-day international series against Pakistan which ends on 19 May, before the ICC deadline on 23 May.


Archer has pace which only Mark Wood in the squad can match, and has acquired widespread Twenty20 experience, but his selection would cause some dismay if not active resentment among existing squad members.

England need variety in their pace attack if they are to win the World Cup for the first time, and Archer can supply it with his range of skills - which include reverse swing at the end of an innings.

At least Archer has been playing for Rajasthan Royals alongside England ODI vice captain Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, who could help to reduce any resentment and smooth his way into the squad.

A slight surprise is the inclusion of a third spinner in Joe Denly, rather than Sam Billings who could act as a super sub fielder.

Terrific knock from Jos Buttler today with 110 no and 100 off 50 balls. England were doing pretty well and then he turns up and makes it even greater entertainment.

… Pakistan certainly turned that into a game, getting to 361 and losing by 12 runs.

England managed 351-9 at Headingly today. I thought it was a reachable target until Woakes struck with Pakistan chasing on 6-2...make that 6-3 off the first 3 overs...

They looked set for 400+ at one point and now yeah the lower chaseable total is looking tough 3 down. Eng seem to keep finding way to grind out results, not over yet tho.
