    Harry's 2006 Ryder Cup Special

Two years ago Europe hammered those merkins 18½-9½ in their own backyard, Oakland Hills. * rasps*

They will be coming to out shores this year in an eagerly awaited re-match. i suspect that they will still be licking their wounds following the sound thrashing that took from our boys the last time out.

It’s going to be close. The Yanks are going to be pumped up and they are already focused on it. It’s gonna to be the best Ryder Cup yet in terms of support and spectacle, with the Europeans creaming the Yanks once again. *fingers crossed*

    Harry.
I am delighted that there is another cultured sort about that appreciates the art of the links.
I do wonder however if you mightn't have opened this thread a tad early in the year.
I did play along and vote, but I can't see any of the other heathens giving much of a poo. Try again in July.

Europe v the good ole U S of A. Tuffy

makes no difference who the players are as they are all there on merit.

Do you know how the team selection works?

If not I will be only to happy to enlighten you

It does matter who the players are muppet.

Who would you rather play against? Monty with a 5 wins 2 draws and zero losses in the singles or someone like Barry Lane with no wins in 3 ties? Barry made it "on merit".

The players are NOT selected like the England Football team.. they have to earn the points throughout various tournaments and the Captain is allowed to throw in a "Wild Card" player who did not get enough points to qualify.

If you made your living from Golf (like I did) then please offer up the correct information and I will only be too happy to read it.

What I am saying is YES it matters if we beat the USA BUT the Captain cannot CHOOSE his team, they are all there on points gained throughout the season.

If Monty does not collect enough points (unlikely ) then his only chance of playing would be as a "Wild Card" Take Paul Casey who performed brilliantly in the last Ryder Cup, he is really sweating on getting enough points to make the team.. its touch and go if he will.
