Credit: Billy Slater of the Maroons (centre) reacts after Daly Cherry-Evans scores a try during Origin III.

Game analysis penned through my Beer Goggles.

    NSW defense was outstanding.

Valentine, Valentine ... be my Valentine.

DCE was excellent, Slater was good, but not outstanding. Munster great.

For NSW, Tariq Sims was great off the bench, Boyd Cortner showed his mettle almost running down the Valentine intercept try.

Cook, the NSW and Sth Syd Hooker was great, again.
Cook will be the, barring injury, the Aussie hooker for years to come.
His work and attacking danger around the play the ball attracted Josh McGuire in as the secound tackler,
thus leaving a huge hole in QLD's defensive line and allowed Tedesco to score just before 1/2 time.

James Tedesco was great again and made the most of his limited opportunities.

    Klemer/Clemer is past his prime

Latrell Mitchell is an exciting attacking centre, but defensively poor.

    Malony is a grub.

Gus Gould, whose analysis I respect was blatantly NSW and Penrith players biased.

Billy Slater has been given the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the series ... that's bullshite

QLD lost the series but kept the home fires burning.

The best of the best players picked to play for Australia can't be beaten.

He can have it and nobody can question the fact he is a champion.

    Thanks for the memories Billy.

What a load of shit that decision was. He only played 2 games out of the 3.

Yes, he's a champion, but he wasn't even the best fullback throughout this series.

^Totally correct. Add to that he was also part of the series losing team which makes the decision even more bizarre.

I think they've given it to him largely based on what he's done for Origin (and club and International) football over the years. He's arguably the best fullback any of us have ever seen, but that shouldn't have any bearing on awards for this Origin series.
