    The UEFA competitions thread 2017/18

The mickey mousers scabbed a useful 2-1 away win last night to put themselves in the driving seat for the CL group stages.

Tonight sees the kiddie fiddlers taking on one of Borat's teams at home.

Group stage draw is on the 24th August.

Thursday sees the toffees take on Hadjuk Split in the Europa league, draw for that is on the 25th.

Celtic making it easier than they usually do.

And on a not entirely unrelated note, Madrid have just steamrollered Barca to win the Spanish Super Cup 5-1 on aggregate.

Hat trick of CL titles in the offing, perhaps? Some observers saying this is the best Madrid side ever.

    Celtic 0-5 PSG.

    Just a blip I'm sure.

The Moaners, Barca, Bayern, Sporting and Chelsea all opened their accounts with expected wins.

Roma and Madrid played out a goalless draw.

Benfica lost at home to CSKA Moscow.

    Sporting won away at Olympiakos.

Tonight's fayre sees Manchester Dhabi going to Feyenoord, Liverpool hosting Sevilla, Tottnumb at Wemberley vs Dortmund, and Real Madrid hoping to put a hatful past Apoel at home.

Ronnie coming back after 4 games out. e'll wanna get off the mark. 10 goals in his last 5 CL matches? Will wanna beat Messi and be the CL top scorer for the 6th season in a row.

    Ronaldo 6 - 0 Apoel I reckon.

Learned it all off Kieran Richardson, to be fair.

I love that stupid Fenian defender banging on about how he gave Neymar a hard time when he was on the arse end of a drubbing.

    Stupid twat.

The closest Celtic got to PSG all night.

Pogba out for a month and misses at least 5 games. That'll shine a light on the depth and quality of the squad.

Good result for Spurs last night. Let's see if they can now go and do it against the lesser teams at Wembley.

Yet another 4 goals for United. Twenty eight goals in nine games for "boring" Jose's side.

Meanwhile, over in Munich it looks like Bayern are doing their very best to knock Arsenal out again this season.

Result of the round of games surely has to go to Chelsea though. When was the last time Atletico got beat on their own turf in the CL?

Shakhtar Donetsk gave Man City a good game yesterday.
They were like lightening on the break and tested Delph.
The best team won, looking forward to their next group games, can see them going all the way this year

I see Neymar and Cavani were playing good mates again last night.

We'll see how long that lasts.

On a side note, I'm never sure what to make of Cavani because he seems to miss so many chances, but he also puts a shift in for the team.

Not hearing too much of this these days in the press. Were it not for the abject showings of Dortmund in the CL so far, Zidane would be clinging to his job. With them 8 points behind Barca in La Liga, he might still be.

Reckon they'll wait to see how the rest of the season pans out, after 2 CL victories and a La Liga in his first 2 seasons, he's shown what he can do.

Hopefully can be a successor to Mourinho when he buggers off in a huff after his 3rd season.

Don't really care who Arsenal face.

I don't suppose it makes much difference for Liverpool either at this stage.

Liverpool will discover their Champions League semi-final opponents when the draw is made on Friday from 12:00 BST.

The Reds, who defeated Manchester City in the last eight, will face either Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Roma.

The Europa League semi-final draw will also be made in Nyon, Switzerland, at 11:00.

Arsenal's victory over CSKA Moscow means they will be in the draw and will face Atletico Madrid, Marseille or Red Bull Salzburg.

You'd certainly fancy their chances against Roma rather than Bayern or Real.

At least we're still in Europe Sybil.

And maybe you missed Real leaking three goals at home the other night.

As for Ramsey... Hard as fucking nails that boy.

You're actually standing by that embarrassing contention, then?

You...umm...you do know who's won it for three of the last four seasons, right?
