NFL players want month dedicated to activismA group of four players sent the NFL a memo in August requesting league support and asking for a month to be dedicated to social activism, not long after commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly had talked to several players regarding their game-day activism efforts.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and wide receiver Torrey Smith, and former Arizona Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin co-authored a 2,740-word document intended to push the NFL to honor activism in an effort "similarly to what the league already implements for breast cancer awareness, honoring military, etc."
^ I believe in the Freedom of Speech.
But if players want to bark about politics, religion and race relations do it on another forum.
Bennett is a "walking victim." He made accustions but never gave details, then the police give details.
Shut up and play. Where do these players get their info? The same places most other people do: TV and online newspaper.
NOW.....back to football, Ray.
I hope AO is watching the Rams Niners game. Niners could be making comeback right now. Just got a fumble with 5 minutes left.
No idea where the original thread has gone, but just read that Aaron Hernandez was found to have 'advanced stages of CTE'.
^ Looks like it will be a money grab by his daughter who plans to sue the league. All made possible by the bizarre dismissal of the murder charge.
Interesting finding on Hernandez having advanced stages of CTE. A brain of a 60 year old man.
We can only speculate that CTE contributed to his many bad acts. His behavioral problem did start in his teens,
The thing with CTE, is that a person only know if they have it or to what degree they have it - after they die.
I think more and more players with years in the league and now retired in their 40s are wondering.
Where am I? Where will I be in the future with this (if at all)?
Pretty good game actually. The Rams offense is clearly improved. As far as whether they are now actually a decent team or not....I'm gonna reserve judgement on that one for now since their two wins have essentially come against pop warner teams. For as much as their offense has improved, their defense clearly looks to have taken a step backwards and it could wind up being a wash in the end. One more 8-8 season? Its certainly possible...
That's two close games back to back. 9ers are likely a bit better than their record indicates. You guys could wind up with the best of both worlds: Hope and a high draft pick
The Vikes play at home with Case Keenam and on the ground Dalvin Cook gobbles up yards.
I'm with the Vikes.
The Ravens v. Jags game starts early at 6:30 PST and 9:30 EST b/c it's in London.
Should be a nice long day of football and....bud light and chicken wings.
Session beers my friend. Session IPA's are great for slow days. Founders All Day IPA, Lagunitas Daytime IPA, and Stone Go To IPA are all sold everywhere and all under 5% alcohol. All of them are ridiculously tasty too
Session beers are great for day drinking. Good for whenever really. I don't really day drink, but at night I mostly drink session beers. They taste great, and I'm not really into getting drunk anyway. Putting down 5 of those is no problem.
I think I just read on the ticker tape that DeMarco Murray (Titans) will not play tomorrow (against the Seahawks) b/c of that knee injury.
Nevertheless, I still think the Titans will win at home. I picked 'em.
Cognitive Dissonance.
