A brilliant start by Alonso but he got taken out as well.
Added: He's still going but with damage, and no data back to the pits so has no idea what the car is doing.

This is Hammy's race to throw away, he's five seconds clear of Ricciardo.
Vettel needs a one race ban to curb his lunacy
WTF are Ferrari on!

Red Bull’s new partnership intensifies rumours
RED Bull has confirmed Aston Martin will be the team’s title sponsors in 2018.
The team, for whom Max Verstappen and Aussie Daniel Ricciardo currently drive, will run as “Aston Martin Red Bull Racing” from next season.
“We’ve been working with the world famous sports car maker for 18 months and this is the logical next step in strengthening our relationship,” a statement read.
As part of the tie-up, a new Advanced Performance Centre will be housed at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes HQ, consisting of 110 Aston Martin design and engineering staff.
Red Bull will continue to be powered by Renault engines in 2018. But it’s understood Renault has informed the former world champions it will cease to be Red Bull’s partner from the end of next season and confirmation of Red Bull’s deepening ties with Aston Martin will only increase speculation that the iconic British company will become Red Bull’s power providers in the future
“The power unit discussions in Formula 1 are of interest to us, but only if the circumstances are right,” Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said. “We are not about to enter an engine war with no restrictions in cost or dynamometer hours but we believe that if the FIA can create the right environment we would be interested in getting involved.”
Red Bull chief Christian Horner told Sky Sports F1 at Singapore that only one of the sport’s four current power providers could be the team’s engine suppliers in 2019 and 2020. But F1’s engine regulations will be revamped for 2021 — when many believe Aston Martin will power Red Bull.
Were Renault to withdraw its supply of engines for Red Bull from next year onwards, Honda is the team’s likeliest option for a new supplier after the Japanese company joined up with Toro Rosso, Red Bull’s junior outfit.
Palmer spoke to the official F1 website about how Aston Martin’s relationship with Red Bull could develop into that of engine supplier.
“For 2021 there is a potentially rule change in terms of the engines. We are an engine maker and if the rules change sufficiently that it makes sense — that the costs come down so that a company like us can afford to do an engine — we’d like to do the engine,” Palmer said.
“We would like to be the provider of an independent engine to F1 with our principal customer — that, of course, being our friends at Red Bull.
“Today we are a sponsor and innovations partner — maybe this will grow a bit, but to what extent depends on the direction that F1 takes.”
Red Bull-Aston Martin partnership deepens F1 mystery
Aston Martin, eh?
One would assume they would have great reliability, but can they produce the performance required for an F1 car?
Disaster for Mercedes as they were well off the pace in FP1 and FP2. Wolf described it as a "bug" in the car and they worked through the night both in Singapore and back at HQ.
Obviously did the job, as he's now fastest in FP3.
Looks like Quali is at 4pm Thailand and the race tomorrow at 2pm Thailand, but check your local listings to be sure.
Added: Or maybe not as they're pulling away again.

Well the commentators curse strikes again, writing off Lewis because of him not using the lastest aero package, and he's on Pole again.
Raikonnen alongside him, but the surprise is that Bottas with the new upgrades could only manage fifth.
Oh, I forgot:
Vettel had an engine change after FP3 and broke down in Q1.
Starts at the back of the grid.

Close at the front. Suprised Bottas fifth as well. Vettel starting from back. Should be interesting.
That's what gets me about these "new packages". Interesting that Hammy decided to take the "if it ain't fucked, don't fix it" approach.
Disaster for Kimi, turbo problem means he starts from the pit lane.
Start is minutes away.
Kimi did not make the start, same problem as Vettel. Vettel up to 13th on the first lap...
Red Bull have now passed Mercedes, Hamilton and Bottas are now 3 and 4. Damn good racing.
They've got awesome pace in this race, the Red Bulls. Bottas must be wishing he hadn't taken the new package, the rest are sailing off into the distance...
Smart move by Mercedes there. Keeps Hammy in front of Vettel.
Well done Max, the cloggies will be getting pissed tonight.
And Lewis increases the gap over Vettel, who bottled it trying to take Ricciardo and gave up.
Deep joy.
Oooh tell a lie, Vettel had a shunt!
And he'll probably need a gearbox change = 5 place grid penalty!
Hats off to Vettel, that was a good drive from the back of the grid.
I thought the main issue was the difference in wheelbase length, with the Mercedes being longer and better suited to high speed tracks. The Sazuka circuit, next week, has a bit of everything and is very challenging. It probably suits Hamilton in a Ferrari more than Hamilton in a Merc...
It might not suit Vettel if he has to start 6th at best.
Except for some serious reliability issues, and the fact that one of their drivers is a nutter who caused yet another damaging crash, while not even racing, on his post race in lap.
exonerated by the FIA whose boss just happens to be a former Ferrari team principle.
I hope Vettels gear box is seriously focked.
