The Rugby World Cup 2007 thread

A couple of warm up games this Saturday.

An experimental looking Wales up against Inguurland at Twickenham.

Wales will make the quarters as will the other home nations but I can't really see beyond New Zealand to win it this time.
South Africa and Australia (who seem to be improving) are the next best options.

I still think Wales are a 50/50 shot to beat Australia at home in the World Cup.
    It is basically our final.
we win that one and most likely get the scum in the quarters.
that's our only realistic chance of a semi spot.

wouldn't put money on it, but...
    I think we might.
our third 15 came near enough away from home.

maybe AB's aren't as far ahead as we think.

i know that Wales aren't good enough or consistent enough to go far, but in a one off game at home.
    we have a chance.

^^it's only the press and silly punters that believe that the ABs are way out in front.

England seem to have picked a monster pack for the game against Wales.
England: Cueto; Strettle, Hipkiss, Farrell, Robinson; Wilkinson, Perry; Sheridan, Regan, Vickery (capt), Shaw, Borthwick, Corry, Worsley, Easter.
Replacements: Chuter, Stevens, Moody, Dallaglio, Richards, Flood, Tait.

Wales: Byrne; A Brew, Shanklin, G Thomas (capt), D James; Sweeney, Cooper; I Thomas, Bennett, Horsman, W James, Sidoli, A W Jones, Charvis, Owen.
Replacements: Jenkins, R Thomas, T R Thomas, Popham, Phillips, Hook, T James.

And a good thing too, that's the way we play best 10 man Rugby.

England look very close to full strength.

not entirely sure what Wales are thinking about.

pointless exercise, either pick the firsts and blow off some cobwebs.....but Sweeney and Cooper, 4th choice and third choice, what is the point????

Brew and James?....trying to decide which one to leave home

At last we go back to 10 man Rugby with a monster pack. What happens we do well. Admittedly against a strange Welsh team that was missing a lot of their first team but a win was all we wanted at this stage and with our resent track record. What was Jenkins thinking this close to a World Cup?

Our backs looked clueless with the ball as usual but still if the pack can score over 50 points we might still make a reasonable showing at the World Cup.

i was impressed with the Englies.
Expected a fair beating for the Welsh when i looked at the sides but was hoping for a bit of passion to keep the score down.

they were absolute pants, proving conclusively that we have absolutely nil strength in depth.
i can't believe that the first team's confidence won't have beeen knocked badly by this mismatch nor that England won't have gained.

They could only beat what was in front of them and they did so ruthlessly.

somnamnaa to Wales and big up to the scum.

of that side, only Shanklin is likely to play in the position he played last night at the World cup, we knew that already so what was the point in last nights little exercise.
