    NFL 2016

Most of us are taking a break after SB50. Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

Snub, The Seahawks will have a different team to some degree next year.

The Combine ended recently, and the draft is coming up next month.

Lot of FA movement and more potential leaving and signings.

Here is a brief note on the Ejection rule proposals.

    What's your opinion on this?

Which penalties would lead to ejection under proposed rule?

    NFL.com
    Published: March 21, 2016

A total of 19 rule change proposals will be hashed out at the NFL's Annual Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida, this week, which includes a new automatic ejection rule.

The proposed rule would call for a player who gets two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to be thrown out of the game. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell introduced the idea publicly during his pre-Super Bowl news conference. On Thursday, the NFL Competition Committee laid out the applicable penalties that would lead to ejection: Throwing a punch or kicking an opponent, using abusive language with opponents, officials or teammates and taunting.

The Competition Committee does not expect to see a rise in ejections and hope the new rule will act as a deterrent for players. There were only two players last season who incurred two of the three types of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that would lead to an ejection.

Here is a breakdown of the proposed ejection rule that still needs to be approved:

Section 4 Automatic Disqualification. Article 1. Multiple Fouls.

In addition to any penalty referenced elsewhere in the Official Playing Rules, a player will be automatically disqualified in the event that player is penalized twice in the same game for committing one of the unsportsmanlike conduct fouls listed below, or a combination of the fouls listed below:

    1. Throwing a punch, or a forearm, or kicking at an opponent, even though no contact is made.

    2. Using abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.

    3. Using baiting or taunting acts or words that engender ill will between teams.

The player will be automatically disqualified regardless of whether the penalty is accepted or declined by the opponent. The fouls do not have to be judged by the official to be flagrant for the automatic disqualification to occur, and any foul that occurs during the pregame warm-up period will carry over into the game. Nothing in this section supersedes the Game Official's discretion to judge a foul to be flagrant and disqualify the player based on one occurrence. The addition of a new Section 4 will cause the current Section 4 to become Section 5.

    And Richard Sherman's take:

Seahawks' Sherman calls out Goodell over ejection proposal

Travis Pittman, KING 5 New March 20, 2016

SEATTLE – Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman criticized NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Sunday over Goodell’s proposed rule to eject players who commit two personal fouls in a game.

"I think it's foolish," Sherman told ESPN’s Jim Trotter. "But it sounds like something somebody who's never played the game would say, something that they would suggest, because he doesn't understand. He's just a face. He's just a suit. He's never stepped foot on the field and understood how you can get a personal foul."

Sherman also weighed in on the controversy over the past few years over what constitutes a catch in the NFL. Just as he did with Goodell, Sherman indicated it’s people who have never played in the league who make those determinations.

"Because you've got a bunch of suits doing it," Sherman said. "Let Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin talk about it for about 20-30 minutes. Maybe Cris Carter. Randy Moss. Let those guys have a roundtable discussion about what a catch should be and come up with a rule. I guarantee you it'd be more effective than the rule they have now because those are the pass-catchers. Those are some of the best pass-catchers we've had. I think it'd be more straightforward and to the point."

ESPN says Sherman was recently elected to the NFL Player’s Association executive committee.

Richard Sherman makes sense. Possibly adding an officiating crew to the mix couldn't hurt.

    I see Sherman's point.

Also, it seems Goodell is not popular among many.

The proposed rules are to be a deterrent, basically.

We'll see where they go, if anywhere.

Good for Morris. He'll finally get paid.

And I still despise Snyder. I hope the Skins lose again next year.

Not really, they're right in the middle among salaries.....Look How Much More Quarterbacks Are Paid Than Everyone Else - Business Insider Compared to the old days you're right though. They're considered a commodity these days in the pass happy NFL by many teams. I bet 3/4 wouldn't use a 1st on one. RBs have the shortest careers too - 3.11 yrs. Morris got a little dough because the Cowboy's have the best OL in the league & a fragile QB. He might not have much left.

    Yeah.

And Morris's number are down, which is normal after a couple of years in with lots of carries.

    Kap is still in SF.

I've been hearing "this and that" about him moving out.

    Edit in:

I listening to the John Claton podcast and he just said Kap is earning $19 million per year.

Clayton is tripping. Kap is making $11.9M. His cap hit is 16.2 though. At the end of his contract it goes up to 19, but you can cut him every year. It's really a series of 1 year contracts. I doubt he's going anywhere. He doesn't want to take a huge haircut on his salary & his contract vests April 1. The 9ers don't know if Goff or Wentz will be there at 7 & they have plenty of $$ for insurance. Nobody wants to pay him or give up squat for him. Kap's people are probably telling him to get over himself.

    Thanks for the details, wacky.

Yes, Clayton left out the meat.

Best of luck this year to the Niners.

^^^^ Thanks, they're going to need it. We suck so bad that there's really no reason to sign any FAs. It's going to take awhile. I'm hoping to baby step up to 7 & 9.

NFL schedules for next season released.

Here's the Seahawks. Forget all the "analyst bullsh*t." As usual many players gone and new ones arriving. There will be injuries.

    Any draft hopes?

How your schedule looking for your teams, folks?

Seattle Seahawks' schedule includes five prime-time matchups

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks missed out on a Super Bowl appearance in 2015 for the first time in three seasons. John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Breakdown: Pete Carroll likes to preach the finish is more important than the start. But the schedule sets up favorably for the Seattle Seahawks to pile up wins in the first half of the season. They play just one returning playoff team in the first nine weeks. Despite bowing out in the divisional round of last year's playoffs, the Seahawks are still a marquee team and have five prime-time matchups. Three -- against the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams -- are at home. And two -- against the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots -- are on the road.

    Complaint department:
The Seahawks go to Foxboro Stadium in Week 10 for a Super Bowl XLIX rematch with the New England Patriots. Facing Tom Brady and Bill Belichick on the road is always a challenge. But this matchup will be especially difficult for the Seahawks. The Patriots will be coming off a bye, while the Seahawks will be coming off of a Monday night matchup at home against the Bills. The Seahawks' bye, meanwhile, comes early in the season (Week 5). If you're a glass-half-full type of person, note that the Patriots are the only team on the Seahawks' schedule that will be coming off of a bye.

Finishing strong: The schedule picks up considerably in Week 13. The Seahawks host the Panthers in a rematch of last year's divisional round game. They then travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers and finish with three straight games against divisional opponents. The Seahawks get the Rams and Cardinals at home before traveling to San Francisco to take on the 49ers for the regular-season finale on New Year's Day. It's tough to imagine many scenarios where that final five-game stretch doesn't decide how the season ends up turning out.

    Strength of schedule: T-5th, .543

The Rams just made a big trade to get the number #1 pick in the coming draft.

They'll get the #1 pick in their trade(s) with the Titans.

    I'm guessing Carson Wentz.

All the best to whoever the Rams pick. Ive hears constant debate over whether it'll be Goff or Wentz for a while now.
    Scouts and pundits.

Seriously, both are question mrks, as most QBs are.

We've seen these big trades before to go for a number #1 or #2 QB. Lots of regrets, but that's the game.

I'm glad the Rams are back in LA and in the Seahawks division.

And yeah, Go Cal. Iove my Pac-10 (well, 12).

Partial to Goff as he played for Cal, plus he is from Marin County Ca. Where I moved at 13 after leaving Arabia. Hence the Rams is revolting. I am sure to him as well. But money talks. Plus he walks into a starting job if thats what he wants.

I was hoping the Niners would get a shot. Dream on ao... Speaking of dreams I am really hoping Jarryd Hayne gets a real shot to try Kelly's offense. About as close to rugby as you will get in the NFL. If we are rebuilding lets try something new. Sure seem to work for the Warriors.

Goff or Wentz, time will tell if they will be average, above average, good, great, or fail in the NFL.

Regardless, maybe LA did this to spark interest and support. When the new massive stadium is built I will be excited. Inglewood?

It's a large market down there.I rooted for the Rams in 1980.

    OK, TD football followers,

Do you have any likes in the draft.

Any inklings of who your team will take?

I have confidence in Schneider and his scouts. A few names have been bantered about as usual.

    We'll see soon.

It's a pretty interesting draft, lots of questions, lots of talent....

We pick 7.... Got mixed feelings.... We can't get one of the top two QB's, I like Paxton Lynch but I think we will go Defence.

    Prediction: DeForest Buckner (Oregon)

    Lets wait and see........

The Eagles traded up to the #2 pick, and the pundies assume they will pick Wentz and number #2.

Yeah it certainly looks like the Rams will go with Goff which means to make that trade Philly must love both Wentz and Goff.

Having just signed Bradford to as big deal he is now looking to get traded, not sure I'd take him myself, good talent but injury prone and likes to leave at the drop of a hat....
