We are off to the hottest tourist destination in the world for our first game. A full house expected for our new manager and his first competitive game in charge.
Will all the hotels in Gillingham be full if we make it an overnighter?

Spurs at home is a decent start to the season. As long as they go back to being the Spurs that roll over and die for us, I should be happy enough come the end of the first weekend. Guaranteed to be on TV too.

The sooner Forest are back in the Prem the better. Proper club.

One of the first away grounds I went to as a nipper, but we've been on the end of a few beatings from your lot; the worst was Easter weekend in 92 at OT when your 2-1 win effectively handed Leeds the title. Even the 8-1 didn't make up for that.

You're not a Forest fan then?

edit: Sheff United I see. Still would be a welcome addition to the Prem anyway.

    Why the Clough avatar though?

    Blades all the way mate.

The avatar is my hero as both a player and a manager. His son, negative Nigel did not do us many favours last year. Cup runs apart. We now have a new one. Nigel 2.0 who we are hoping will bring entertainment back to the Lane.

Incidentally, Brian Clogh and I share a few qualities which members will no doubt be aware of.

Fair play. What Clough did in his time at Derby and Forest was outstanding, and pissing off Leeds fans makes him even more of a legend in my eyes.

I saw the Adkins appointment earlier and I hope it works out for you. You have to earn it and nobody has the God given right, but I'd love to see the likes of Sheff Utd, Weds (sorry) and Forest back in the top flight. Hell, even Leeds if I'm being perfectly honest.

All teams likely to attract 30k+ and most of 'em fannying around in the lower leagues 'cos of total fuckwittery in the boardrooms.

Some good points there. Far too many prawn sandwich fans and posh southern clubs looking down their noses at real fans.
Saw Forest beat Malmo European Cup in Munich 1978. Sat next to the Late James Hunt (RIP) he was slumming it.

Saints are proper up for it

Southampton have signed Portugal defender Cedric Soares on a four-year contract in a deal worth up to £4.7m from Sporting Lisbon.
Right-back Soares made his senior debut for Portugal in October 2014 and has won four caps.

Southampton have signed Spain forward Juanmi from Malaga on a four-year deal.
The 22-year-old came through the youth system at Malaga, scoring 20 goals in 93 appearances for the La Liga side.

Looking forward to smashing those Cherries

    C'mon you Saints !
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

That's the gossip... but reality.. Liverpool had their moment and are on the decline in my opinion, plus the drop in performance of other Saints players that went there has to be a worry. If he goes it'll be one of the big four... I hope that he stays, we certainly want him to, but signing Soares sends the message that we'll get along fine without him.

Add another one to the list

Southampton sign Maarten Stekelenburg on loan from Fulham
Former Netherlands goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has joined Southampton on a season-long loan from Championship club Fulham.

The 32-year-old joined Fulham from Roma two years ago but spent last season on loan in France at Monaco.

Stekelenburg has been drafted in as Fraser Forster suffered a serious knee injury in March.

"Maarten has a wealth of top-level experience," said Saints executive director of football Les Reed.

Southampton will compete in the third qualifying round of the Europa League before the Premier League season begins.

"While Fraser Forster's rehabilitation is progressing well, adding Maarten to our squad alongside Kelvin Davis and Paulo Gazzaniga will give us strength in depth for what will be a busy season," added Reed.

"Maarten enjoyed tremendous success with Ajax and on the international stage, playing in the 2010 World Cup final."

Stekelenburg, who spent two years in Serie A at Roma after leaving Ajax after nine years in 2011, is Southampton's third signing of the summer.

Watch out Citeh are on a spending spree.!

Manchester City are set to spend more than £100m on transfers this summer after having their transfer restrictions lifted by Uefa, with the club chasing 22-year-old Paul Pogba, Kevin De Bruyne, 24, Raheem Sterling, 20, and 25-year-old Fabian Delph. (Daily Telegraph)
