2015 PGA Championship- the final major

The field is assembling at Whistling Straights, Wisconsin.

Tiger Woods is in the field, but he probably won't be in the Fed Ex playoffs...unless he wins...he is the only one who thinks he can.

There are two Irish dark horses...young Rory McIlroy coming back from injury...and Shane Lowry who showed real genuine class in winning at the Bridgestone...this guy isn't an advertisement for weight watchers or gym classes...but he is real good...won the Irish Open...as an amateur.

The last time the PGA was here there was the scandal about Dustin Johnson grounding his club in a bunker...and not owning up...and also KJ Choi being penalised for losing a ball...which Adam Scott later found in a bunker...some field marshall went to sleep and missed KJ's shot.

There are four sharing the lead midway through the second round...Lingmerth, Henley, Day and Matt Jones from Australia...Spieth is one shot behind in the clubhouse...looking ominous I think...he usually finishes well...Jason Day always up there...when will he win something? Rory McIlroy five shots off the pace...Tiger two shots back...from the cut line

Whistling Straits is part of Kohler Company's American Club. The course is actually in Haven which is on Lake Michigan just north of Sheboygan. I grew up there and we used to have keg parties on the dunes that are now part of the course. Gorgeous location for a golf course.

I think he hit the nail on the head in an interview where he praised the fitness of the new generation of golfers, i.e., they're working out. He's always done that and it has two, maybe three, advantages. Certain resistance (weight lifting) exercises may be sport specific. Regardless, strength, endurance, flexibility and good nutrition lead to good health. A healthy man has every advantage in every aspect of life. And looking good in the mirror certainly gives one confidence he can conquer the world (of golf). Lastly, this is what they call the mind-body connection:
This means that our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes can positively or negatively affect our biological functioning. In other words, our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are!
Therefore, our bodies can affect our mental health. And everyone says golf is a mental game. That's how everybody has caught up to Tiger. And he admits it. Plus, maybe he was more ego-driven than anybody else. Now he knows he's not so unique.

That's the forum's RESIDENT PSYCHOLOGIST'S analysis and I'm sticking to it.
“The Master said, At fifty, I knew what were the biddings of Heaven. At sixty, I heard them with docile ear. At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.”

I was fortunate enough to attend the PGA Championship there in 2004. Beautiful course and really gives a feeling of being sea side.
