    Ichiro Suzuki

Any baseball fans here in TD? Specifically any fans of Ichiro Suzuki? Just got hits # 2900 and 2901 today so just 99 short of 3000. He'll likely finish around 2930 this baseball season so do you think any team will give him a shot to get to 3000 next year?

Miami Marlins' Ichiro Suzuki only 100 hits away from three thousand | FOX Sports

"Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki moved within 99 hits of the 3,000 milestone on Wednesday night.

Suzuki's RBI double down the left-field line in the second inning off Washington Nationals right-hander Doug Fister put him closer to the milestone. It also gave the Marlins a 1-0 lead. The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer connected on an 86 mph fastball.

Suzuki added a two-out single to center off Fister in the fourth.

It helped him become the 38th player to reach 2,900 major-league hits. He is also 38th on the all-time hits list, 27 away from Al Simmons. In nine seasons playing professionally in Japan, he compiled 1,278, giving him 4,178 total between the two leagues.

Over 15 big-league seasons entering Wednesday, Suzuki has a .315 average, 336 doubles, 88 triples, 113 home runs and 731 RBI as a member of the Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and Marlins.

"Certainly great to see Ichiro collect his 2,900th hit," manager Dan Jennings said.

"That's just a tribute to such an outstanding Hall of Fame player that he is. It was good to see him get the RBI double".

Dang ... Not a single "rounders" fan in the house. Well, it's very discouraging for this Ichiro fan. He's about to dip below .240 ... Not sure he'll be able to get to 3000 even if a team does give him a shot next year.

Sorry bra I was busy with my lady. Ichiro is one of the best hitters that ever played the game. As a Mariner fan I am so happy to have been able to watch him play. He will be a first ballot HOF entry for sure.

Somebody better give him a chance. More hits than anybody save Pete Rose at 4256 but a cloud hangs over him. Then we have Ty Cobb at 4189.

I sure hope he gets one more season. The A's could still use him after the way we played this year.

We applaud him every time he comes up to bat when at the game/s.

I was going to post a picture of him up at bat (at Marlins Park), but it seems the girlfriend only saves pictures of Stanton.

Thanks for the replies. It's been tremendously disappointing reading the box scores of Miami games the past 6-8 weeks. Ichiro was hired as a fourth outfielder but has got a lot of playing time due to Stanton's broken hand, Yelich starting off the season with a slump and Ozuna getting sent down to the minors ... But Ichiro hasn't made the most of the opportunity to rack up hits. Went 0-5 again today.

Bsnub ... Yep, Griffey goes in next year and after that will be Ichiro.

AO ... Oakland is one of 3-4 teams he may have a shot with but the only AL team IMHO. NL would be staying with the Marlins ... Maybe the Mets ... And even maybe the Reds.

Yep, still playing. Played for Seattle for 11.5 years followed by 2.5 with the Yankees. He's now in his first season with the Miami Marlins and will likely play for them one more.

He's up to 2923 hits in his career and 498 stolen bases.
