    Grand National 2015

    Grand National 2015

    Crabbie's Grand National 2015, Aintree
Festival dates: 9-11 April Grand National: Saturday, 11 April at 16:15 BST
Coverage: Live commentaries of all the big races on BBC Radio 5 live and online, with live text commentary on 11 April
A maximum field of 40 runners has been named for Saturday's Grand National at Aintree with no withdrawals among the leading contenders.
AP McCoy will ride 7-1 favourite Shutthefrontdoor as the 19-time champion jockey competes for a 20th and final time before retirement.
The weights for the famous race are headed by Lord Windermere on 11st 10lb.
Six of the first seven horses home in last year's National are set to line up, headed by winner Pineau De Re.
Contenders include the 2014 runner-up Balthazar King and fourth-placed Alvarado, while Rocky Creek, The Druids Nephew and Cause Of Causes are among the other main challengers.
Nina Carberry, on 25-1 chance First Lieutenant, will bid to become the first female jockey to win in the 168th running of the race, which involves 30 fences and nearly four-and-a-half miles of track.
But there is no ride in the race as it stands for Katie Walsh, who won Monday's Irish National on Thunder And Roses.
Four reserves will be named on Thursday in case there are any withdrawals before 10:00 BST on Friday.
Lord Windermere, trained by Jim Culloty, won the 2014 Cheltenham Gold Cup and will bid to become only the third horse to do the big-race double after Golden Miller and L'Escargot.

My fav time of the horse racing calender, any tipsters out there?

I'm undecided yet as it's probably anyone's as usual.

I've been betting on the cavalry charge since i was a nipper and even been a few times, a great day out!

Not as many as the cows that get put down for all the hamburgers scoffed at the course.

    Maybe a TD sweepstake.

However many members post on this thread divided by the 40 runners.

6 members in the sweepstake at the moment, that's aprox 7 horses each.

I'll cut the names out the newspaper and put them in the hat, how many hours/days before the start?

The winner of the sweepstake get's greened of the other punters?

Many yrs. of trying and never had a winner of this race so this yrs. loser is.........
    St. Are. 33/1 E/W.
Just hope to fuck that McCoy (aka Mr. Charisma) doesn't win it in his final effort.
Has there ever been a more miserable sporting 'icon' ever ?
I wouldn't mind being either horse with Nina Carberry or Katie Walsh sitting on top of me though.

Not long now, get your post and bet in..
    My moneys on..
Jockey AP McCoy has bookmakers fearing a £50m loss as he prepares to ride favourite Shutthefrontdoor in his final Grand National on Saturday.
The 19-time champion, from Northern Ireland, will retire if he wins on a record 20th appearance in the race.
Punters are predicted to back his horse, trained by Jonjo O'Neill, so he becomes the shortest-priced National favourite since Red Rum 40 years ago.
Six of last year's top seven, including winner Pineau De Re, are in the field.

If I hadn't spent all my cash on fast women and slow horses I might be a rich man.

Mate of mine who lives in Morcambe gave me a tip for the national, Across the Bay, 23-1

    Cheers
