Iconic All Black Wayne 'Buck' Shelford is battling cancer.
The famous No. 8 revealed on radio today that he is receiving treatment for lymphoma.
He asked that his privacy be respected and said he would make no further statements.
Shelford played for the All Blacks from 1986 to 1990 and became an icon through his toughness and unbeaten record as captain.
His dropping in 1990 caused a prominent public campaign to 'Bring back Buck'. Shelford has since had coaching forays overseas and with North Harbour.
