The favourites have to be Souths and Penrith so far surely. Also the pundits reckon Canberra are an improving outfit, they sure played with spirit. However it is early days yet. If Souths are always going to drop off like that when Adam Reynolds is off the field it might get interesting though.

As long as Ricky Stuart is the boss at Canberra, they'll be premiership cellar dwellers with lofty dreams of making the 8. I've got nothing against the Raiders or Stuart (besides him putting the Eels in a state of disrepair then pissing off before the rebuild) it's just that his track record as a coach is nothing short of horrendous. Great player, possibly a good bloke, but he's a shit coach.

Not true. He has won a Premiership. Parra were a rabble when he went there. Stephen Kearney and Daniel Anderson had the same problem.

Really, what about North Queensland losing two games at home?

    Bruce, a few points to swirl around your clueless head;

Yes Stuart won a GF, about 15 years ago with a very good team in his first year as their coach. Did he build that team in any way shape or form?. No. His winning percentage in the era that matters which is NOW?. I couldn't be arsed to look but would say it's 30% or less in the last few seasons. And he's had a free-hand with both teams in that time, leading them both to wooden spoons. Can he coach?. Can he fuck...

NQ, unlike the Raiders, will make the 8. Feel free to dig this post out and stuff it in my face if they don't.

^ if you are on the punt, I would say the only team that you can rely on is St George. My prediction for the wooden spoon.

They will be battling with their next door neighbours with fins and the Titans for that one.

Quite possibly...because outside of the Panthers (my pick) the Bunnies, Chooks and the Knights...the rest including the Warriors are quite ordinary right now

Mate...Jaysus Christ himself couldn't fluke a GF...his team or not...Ricky was a brilliant player and was arguably one of the major influences in both the Raiders and Kangaroo teams he played in...his problem is his intensity which probably outranks anybody including his old team mate Bellyache at the Storm...he has always been a pain in the arse...even in his rugby playing days..how the ARU let him go is amazing. A bad coach is somebody like Matt Elliott, a very nice pleasant person but clueless about the game, absolutely clueless. Ricky is no Matt Elliott.

Manly, then the Broncos when they were formed. I was at Lang Park for their first game which, ironically, was against the reigning premiers Manly. Brisbane won.

But, having been a sports gambler (successfully) for a very long time I understand the BIG difference between using your heart and your head when it comes to picking winners. If I don't think the Broncos will win a game and the stats back that up I'll happily back their opposition. Mug punters and sports tragics could never bring themselves to do this.

You will be doing that a bit this year... Wayne left his mojo...and the back ended contracts at St George...you can start when they play the Warriors next week.

Don't see how this affects you knowing fuck all about Rugby League though...

Bloody hell I'm glad this Kiwi idiot only stuffs up the sports threads, it would be a pain if he could read anything but sport.

Sorry Bruce, please excuse my tardiness replying to anyone (let alone a typical Kiwi dickhead) but I've been a bit busy having a life since getting home from a job last week. The Manly supporter part came about because as a kid, Bob Fulton was the player we all wanted to be while playing in the backyard, then getting a Manly jersey for Christmas sealed the deal. 6 year olds are like that. Then it was the Broncos when they formed and now I support any team who wins when I back them. Happy now?. Good, fuck off and leave me in peace.

Back onto the NRL season, it's early days obviously but the Doggies were the stand-out team of Round 2. Very impressive display, they should towel Manly up this weekend and are a good price at 1.80. But I won't be betting for another round or two, there's a lot of room for improvement for most teams yet.

^ Manly have plenty to prove this weekend and it is a home game. Doggies are not unbeatable by any stretch. Prepared to eat my words.........

Bit harsh and uncalled for Headworx.
I don't think Bruce is typical at all, rather he is an exceptional Kiwi dickhead....

Why don't Manly fans travel? | The Roar
Manly fans have been by far the worst travellers in the NRL. It seems that they are glued to Brookvale Oval.

I think they will LT, based on watching both teams performances last weekend. Canterbury's big men - and holy hell do they have some big men - were fantastic and James Graham has started the season in the best possibly way. The Dogs are favourites (just) and the spread is -1.5, I reckon they'll cover that with ease. Should be a good game to watch.

The other match that should be well worth tuning in to is Roosters-Panthers on Monday afternoon (live on Setanta). The odds suggest Penrith are no chance and the spread is 7.5, but they played well last week and they might give the Chooks more of a game than many think.

^ For the record I went to every Manly home game last year. I also travelled to see them play during the season vs Souths at the SCG. Then I saw all of their finals games. I travel.
