    Four Nations Rugby League

Australia, NZ, England and Samoa are playing in Australia and NZ this month.

Samoa v England first up in Brisbane...30 minutes gone and Samoa are up 10 - 6...but the scoreline flatters England....the Samoans are beating the shit out of them physically and the English are the bigger side...so the tackle count and territory are against England...they obviously are hoping the Samoans will run out of puff but with the tackle count I wouldn't bet on it

Yes the Samoans did tire a bit in the last 5 minutes but England taking the two points instead of going for a try in the last minute was a sign of weakness. If they had been playing the Kiwis they would have been twenty points down by now...I think they will win but it is not an impressive opening...especially considering their NRL players

They will need to...the Kiwis just dicked them 30 - 12...and that flattered the Kangaroos...the Kiwis crossed another three times but were disallowed.

Lots of errors by the Convicts. Kiwis looked average.

Looks like it'll be a low quality event compared to previous years...

I would have liked to listen to that because the ABC commentators are pretty good. Whenever the Kiwis trounce the Kangaroos it is through dominance up front. The tackle count at half time was 160 to 110...you cant win a game like that unless you really pour it on in the second half but the Kiwis kept them scoreless. JT would have made a difference but so would have Isaac Luke for the Kiwis...losing Inglis was the last straw.

When a coach only picks two forwards for a game against the Kiws you know that they are in for a hard night. Last time time they did that was in the World Cup final defeat.
History repeats, lessons to be learnt.

Cherry-Evans should be discarded form playing any sort of rep footy. He just isn't up to it,making wrong choices and soft in defence. When he had to step up for Cronk in Origin he just couldn't handle the pressure but when Cronk returned and took over, Evans had his best game.

Melbourne Storm past and present in last nights game.

Not too bad for a relatively young club.

It shows the gap between NRL, Origin and Test matches. Have no doubt if the Kiwis were ever invited into State of Origin they would trounce both Queensland and NSW regularly.

    Both.

The errors were very high. The quality and skills were not.

They'd be in it right up until the national anthems, then either team would flog them by 20+. Stick to yawnion, you's aren't as bad as everyone else at that.

State of Origin is a better match than any international test- it is taken much more seriously in Oz. Don't kid yerself. I wish they would take the international tests more seriously in Oz, incidentally- and after a few more trouncings like NZ just handed out, they just might.

Back during the Super League war the Kiwis were invited in...and would have won it except for an atrocious refereeing call after we scored the winning try.

Sorry mate origin is fantastic football, and it has always given the Kangaroos a leg up in the internationals because they had three freaks playing for the same team who took their combination into the tests, but it is only there because there is nothing else on TV on Wednesday night.

Just wait until the Warriors get their act together and start winning a comp because of all the games they win during origin season. Then you will hear the screams from NRL HQ.

Bruce ,seeing a how STATE of origin is just that and not country of origin ,which state -province would you suggest the NRL invite to join or are you wanting the test team to play.

You raise a very valid point.

The Kiwis can't play in Origin, that would be an insult to international league. Origin has to be put back in its place. It is great mid week entertainment but it is not international quality league and never has been. Back in the old days Great Britain sides used to deal with NSW in particular very easily. The key point being that was when NSW included banana benders playing in Sydney.

State of Origin is ruining the game because of the amount of pressure placed on young Kiwis to play for Queensland or NSW and then being unavailable for NZ. I hear rumours they are now thinking of letting Samoan reps play State of Origin...and then of course be available for the Kangaroos. This has to stop.

One big step would be for England to beat the Kangaroos today. That will really put the boot in because it will show the true strength of State of Origin.

I reckon that after that performance yesterday Samoa would give both Queensland and NSW a run for their money, they might even knock over Australia next week although I doubt it. They don't have enough depth.

The problem is that Origin has become a massive money earner for the ARL and Channel 9 and they won't want to let that go. However the strength of rugby league is spreading across the Tasman and they have to find a way of dealing with that.

Trying to call Kiwi kids Australian because they were signed for an NRL club at 13 is not the way to do it. If they keep that up Origin will become irrelevant over here and this is a massive TV market for the ARL.

People such as Phil Gould and Wayne Bennett have been on about the problem for some time, they know it is ruining the game.

I heard one commentator saying yesterday (I think it was Steve Mascord) they could include the Pacific Islands in an Origin comp against a NZ origin side. That might have legs. It would attract an audience and could be played alongside an Origin tournament and stop the Warriors getting so many points in winter.

So come on England this afternoon and do us all a favour.

Convicts should bounce back and win, quite comfortably? They're still the best team in the world; England and CKBs are probably lesser teams than they were in the WC a few months back.

    What are these kits???

If we had Sam Burgess playing then I'd fancy our chances (although the Convicts have many players out too).

But, I reckon the Convicts will be right at their game today. Should be a very intense game, especially the first 20 mins...
