Looks like City have got the hardest group out of the English clubs yet again. Reckon they could struggle like they did last year.

Looking at those groups, there's only 4 games in there I'd bother to stay up until stupid o'clock to watch:

    Atletico Madrid v
    Juventus

    Real Madrid v
    Liverpool

    Bayern Munich v
    Manchester City

    Barcelona v
    Paris St-Germain

I meant outside of the World Cup obviously.

I'm sure there would be some TV rights and world wide viewing figures that would back my statement up to a certain degree.

How about I swap the word "most" with "A lot" and then we can get on with talking about the football.

How about we swap it with "some".

It shouldn't even be called the Champions League, when you can finish fourth in your domestic league and still enter.

Did you know there's only 2 months of the year when there are no Champions League matches? the competition stretches from July to May.

Then there's the joke of the 3rd placed in each group being awarded with a free late entry into the Europa Cup/League, whatever that is now ?

It's just one big money spinner....The best part of the Champions League ? The part where it isn't a league, the last 16 and onwards.

Just to make it clear that Dillinger and I are not related...we just happen to agree on this...as I am sure millions of discerning fans agree

Which involves roughly 70% of the world's best players, so really pretty bloody good.

Obviously the later stages are better than the earlier stages.

Also true of the world cup, european championships, any tennis competition, golf, etc etc etc etc.

Statement of the bleedin' obvious innit.

Totally agree on that. It's the most ridiculous, bizarre and totally unfair idea any person or group of people has ever had. So obviously wrong it's untrue.

I think Legia Warsaw summed it up rather well.

Well I didn't get 5 minutes but I did read yesterday that the final is the biggest annual sporting event in the world now. Speaks for itself really.

Last nights results. Arsenal's decent away form in Europe was nowhere to be seen and the scousers got the win by the skin of their teeth.

    Juventus 2-0 Malmo

    Olympiacos 3-2 Atletico Madrid

    Liverpool 2-1 Ludogorets

    Real Madrid 5-1 FC Basel

    Benfica 0-2 Zenit St. Petersburg

Yep, it was a good couple of days for German teams playing the English.

Mourinho fucked up letting Drogba play for 70 minutes. He was so off the pace it's unreal, and he missed chances he would have scored with his eyes closed two years ago. A very good point for Shalka who are playing shit in their league at the minute. Should have been a comfortable win for the Blues.

A few shots of Stamford Bridge last night.

Tonight's scores if anybody is interested.

    CSKA Moscow 0-1 Bayern Munich

    Man City 1-1 Roma

    Shakhtar 2-2 Porto

    Schalke 04 1-1 Maribor

    BATE 2-1 Athletic

    Sporting CP 0-1 Chelsea

    Paris SG 3-2 Barcelona

    Apoel Nicosia 1-1 Ajax

Great win for PSG, dropped points for City and with the other game in Chelsea's group finishing in yet another draw they're sitting pretty at the top of their table.

^ Fairly sure he played the last CL game as well and been brought on as a sub a couple of times. It's the way of the world when you're part of a big squad at a top club, just have to bide your time, wait for your chance and be extremely impressive when you finally get to play.

Should have at least hit the target with that chance he had. Could have done with it falling to somebody else really.

What a great fucking player Matic is. Had a great game.

    Tue 21st October

Man City are doing their best not to get out of the group stages again with a 2-2 draw after being 2-0 up. (5555) and Chelsea would have to try very hard not finish in the top two after another decent performance, all be it against the shower of shit that is Maribor, with a thumping 6-0 win.

A few shots from the Bridge last night, including a goal from the spot by the mighty Drogba. (only place he will score from this season I fear)
