    USPGA Championship

At Valhallah in Louisville Kentucky, what a beautiful course. Great TV especially as it is pissing down with rain. McIlroy in front, Woods is a goner and won't make the cut. Figjam is going well...the prick.

Keep an eye on Fowler, he's been knocking on the door in the last few majors, just needs a bit of luck.

I had a cheeky punt on him to each way (top six pays out). But not in Thailand of course, that would be illegal.

And I can't see Tiger making the Ryder Cup - in awful form.

I believe he's under Butch Harmon's wing now, with immediate results. He's been right up there on day 4 lately and a win is close. Might even be this weekend but if it's not, the moment he tees it up in a tourney without the entire worlds top-50 in the field he'll be very short priced. And deservedly so.

You should look at changing agencies, each way pays out on top seven with most of them in Majors and you'll be filthy if he comes 7th!.

I don't know about luck. The kid is brilliant but seems to self destruct on the occasional hole, if he can avoid that he is going to be in the mix for sure.

The kid is looking the goods this time. He played a really steady but high quality round. He is playing with figjam tomorrow so I don't know how that will work out.

If Jason Day can repeat the best round of the top 5 players he could win it.

The guy is pure class but is recovering from a hand injury. This field is absolutely on fire and I think it might be too much to expect a win.

He was scrambling the whole round against McIlroy, and is a great matchplay exponent. I think that might have carried him through because McIlroy played well too. I think there are fifteen players within 5 shots of the lead and in that number are 5 major winners plus all the others are multiple tour winners.

The course will be drier tomorrow so it is going to be a fantastic finish. Adam Scott played 5 under par today, and is five shots behind, and figjam is only three shots behind McIlroy. You never know what that prick will do.

Hell of a finish in store later today.

With a few players within easy reach Rory will need to outgun them all. It's going to be a real test of his mental strength, unlike the final day at the British Open where he had some breathing space.

    Phenomenal achievement if he wins.

McIlroy birdies...then figjam and Rickie bogey...McIlroy sole leader now...with his length off the tee he has it to lose now.

On the last few holes now. I hope they still have some daylight left since there could be a playoff. McIlroy is looking good as is Fowler and Mickelson.

What an amazing finish. McIlroy pars the 18th to take the title by a shot from figjam. figjam missed an eagle by inches which would have required a playoff.

It was so dark at the end the players could hardly see the balls. The officials suggested the last two groups play the last fairway together because of the fading light.

Not only was it dark but there were storm clouds and lightning gathering.

This was on of the best majors for a long time.

    Well done McIlroy!

Stick a fork in Tiger Woods. He will never beat Nicklaus's record.
All these injuries brought on by his 'unique' power game are self inflicted IMO.
Who ever heard of golfers suffering injuries back in the day. It's laughable.

No...Jack is safe from Tiger...and even then he didn't have to battle the class of the youngsters coming through...Fowler, Day, Scott, Rose and let alone McIlroy...so his record might be as safe as anything can be...and I forgot to mention old figjam...he gave McIlroy a good challenge.

Fair to say the injuries are self inflicted. He hit his 14 majors three years younger than Nicklaus, and his win percentage in non-majors is much higher.

The boy's burned himself out I'm afraid.

Tiger Woods will never play as he did before the numerous injuries. He is definitely past his prime while Rory is now just hitting his stride.

Lot of good young players in golf right now which should make for some interesting tournaments, minus Tiger Woods.

The old build 'em up, knock 'em down syndrome.

As many people cheer his downfall now as cheered his success before.

I love watching him in the Ryder Cup - because he's usually crap in it.

    I agree...and I have seen a few.

His win might not have been possible without a 3-wood on the par-5 10th hole.Standing in the fairway, McIlroy watched Fowler drain a 30-foot birdie putt to take the outright lead. McIlroy was 281 yards away, slightly uphill, and his shot caught the left side of the fairway and rolled onto the green before stopping 7 feet away for an eagle that got him back in the game.

I will never forget that shot...the kid is amazing.
