I wonder if any of our horseracing fraternity would care to pass on their predictions for the forthcoming equinefest?
Not for gambling purposes obviously, just by way of a bit of fun.
So no prices please (except in PM) :)

I predict that lots of ladies will wear hats and that lots of people will get drunk.
I also predict a fight in the Guinness tent.
Champion Hurdle
My tent or yours
For all the Shifters and Pikeys on here:)
No.3 would taste good if you cooked him right.
It is horse racing over hurdles at Cheltenham, pictures of fillies would be of interest.
I predict prices for hotels and self catering accommodation will treble, all the bars will be full, and most Cheltonians will use the money and time to decamp to warmer climes.

As all eyes focus on the racing at Prestbury Park, businesses across Cheltenham are working tirelessly to draw in customers with something unique.
Cheltenham’s shopping bosses are laying on events during the National Hunt Festival in time for the crowds of people who spill out of the racecourse to enjoy the town.
Food deals are everywhere too. Whether it is along the Promenade or at The Brewery, bars, restaurants and hotels will be cashing in as the town’s economy is set to capture a £50 million boost in revenue.
Live music and Irish dancing will take each race day from 5pm until 7pm at The Brewery with The Dublin Jacks performing a mixture of traditional and contemporary Irish folk and country music on an outdoor music stage.

Brewery event co-ordinator Demelsa Coleman said: “Racegoers can kick the day off with a pre-race breakfast or lunch and return for a festival-fuelled evening of live music and dancers plus great food and drink.
“The band is influenced by the Dubliners, Pogues and Christie Moore amongst others and guarantees to get your feet tapping.”
At the Curry Corner in Fairford, the team have prepared a special menu fit for a Gold Cup Champion.
Restaurant owner Monrusha Krori said: “The atmosphere is buzzing.”
Stuart Holmes Salon is among the businesses taking advantage of the mass of people wanting to look their best for the races, with special offers available.
A big screen will show every race with live commentary at The Centaur at the racecourse, but there are other places you can catch the action if you don’t have a ticket.
The Strand, Tailors, and The Montpellier Chapter are among those offering live race action on television over lunch and a pint.
The Beehive will also be offering its usual free mini bus service to and from the racecourse for patrons.
At Hotel Du Vin, breakfast and brunch will be available for £18.95 per person including a Continental buffet, cooked breakfast menu and a complimentary Racing Post.
In addition there is a Chase Bloody Mary Station and Guinness available on tap from 8am to midday.
Screens at Après and Ruby Tuesday will be broadcasting all the action as well, while your avid racing gambler can catch the action in Ladbrokes and Betfred just around the corner.
A festival-inspired fashion exhibition will also be held in Cheltenham, courtesy of the couture brand Lisa von Hallwyl, during the four-day event.
A spokeswoman said: “Lisa wanted to create a display embracing fashion and heritage at the races. It includes a perfectly sculpted horse by local artist Rupert Till, dresses and millinery by Georgina Rose from Cotswold Bride and Lisa von Hallwyl millinery.”
The exhibition will be on display until Sunday at the former Habitat building in The Brewery.

Sent from my laptop machine onboard a boat somewhere in S Turkey
This thread got me reminiscing. Some years ago, I had the second closest pub to Prestbury Park (the Cheltenham racecourse), The Plough Inn at Prestbury. Race week every pub in the town was licensed to open at 8 a.m., and I had literally coachloads of people descending on the pub at that time. The pub had an orchard at the back, which I'd turned into a beer garden, and for raceweek i had a large marquee erected, selling only Guinness. Food was hot filled rolls (delivered fresh each morning from an excellent bakery at Winchcombe) of bacon, sausage or egg, any any combination. Between 8 and 12 midday the place was a mad house, then a lull before 4 p.m. when we were going like a fair again. Some real characters amongst the racing fraternity for sure. Photos from the web.
