a genuine challenge to all the so called 'fans leaders'

I used to be a regular poster on this forum until May this year, but haven’t posted since then for the reasons set out below.
However, I felt that given what I consider to be the totally inappropriate actions of the bandwagon jumpers (I won’t name them, as it will be obvious to anyone who follows CCFC who they are) over the last few days, I felt it my duty to at least post my views on what’s happened over the last 7 days, as I feel so strongly about them.
The hatred for VT has simply been staggering (especially at Anfield) – all he has wanted to do (in my view) is get rid of a manager that he thinks is clearly not up to premier league standards (we may argue about that, but many will share that view, and I have been strongly of that view for a long time) – in any event, these are the arguments that at the very least seem to be sensible ones to hold, even if one disagrees with them (and surely even a fair minded MM supporter would see that they are valid points to raise, even if they wanted to give MM the benefit of the doubt) :
1. Very poor quality football (hoof-ball constantly).
2. Many players bought for far too much money (and many not even (or hardly) used), despite multi-million transfer fees (paid for remember by VT, Not MM).
3. The team hovering just above the relegation zone and clearly in danger of possible relegation.
4. A manager that despite all the money that VT had (and was going to) give him was not prepared to rule himself out of the Everton job on national TV when he could clearly have done so. (Some may feel this is fair enough by MM, but equally, isn’t it fair enough for VT to then feel, he’s not the man for me?)
I know there are counter arguments as well (I don’t accept them, as I always thought MM would take us down, but I accept some intelligent fans have supported MM), (Don’t forget as well, that all the dirty linen that’s been aired in public over the last few weeks has not come from VT – it doesn’t take a genius to work out whose likely to have been conniving behind the scenes to get the media to sing to a certain tune.)
My main point however is this : given the above arguments, why the intense hostility towards VT over the last 7 days???? The obvious answer is that the hatred has nothing really to do with the MM issue, but is all down to the rebrand – and the people who like to think that they are the important fans have suddenly jumped on this bandwagon to use this as a means of targeting hate at VT for other reasons than just innocent support of MM – Expediency at its absolute worst!
To me, that is rank hypocrisy and the people who have done so should hang their heads in shame – Even though I disagree 100% with the likes of TLG, I have the utmost respect for his position, as he had the courage of his convictions and walked away. I also have respect for those people (even though I again completely disagree with them) who have tried to oppose the rebrand from day one (even if they have continued attending games), and have maintained a consistent position.
This current fiasco though has quite frankly been sickening – if the extent of the outpouring of abuse over the last week is really about the rebrand, then have the courage of your convictions and make the argument for that – but don’t just use this MM situation (or the next convenient issue) as a cloak to vent your spleen about something else – fight on the ground you really feel strongly about, rather than stirring the pot on another issue, as you know the vast majority of fans will not protest about the rebrand!
It’s hardly surprising that the following groups hate VT :
1. The Welsh media (their beloved ‘egg’ is under intense pressure with City’s success, and the last thing they want is a long period of football success for Cardiff under a billionaire owner).
2. The English media (they hate the fact that there are 2 Welsh teams in the premier league).
3. The English football pundits (for the same reasons set out in no.2 above).
Under normal circumstances, there would be enough people around CCFC who would see through all of this, but given the rhetoric coming from the so called ‘fan’s leaders’ and the younger childish element who have not been through the dark days of bottom division football like many of us thinking it’s somehow ‘cool’ to have a pop at VT (probably because it seems like a fun thing to do), everyone seems to have been blind over the last couple of weeks.
I know I’m probably at odds with most long standing fans about not worrying about the changes (symbols and colours have never meant much to me - not just in football, but in any part of life – I don’t see symbols as affecting substance), but I can see that many honourable people do feel strongly about the issue and I respect that, but please do any campaign against VT for clear and honest reasons - not hypocritical ones!
My challenge to the leaders of this forum and any other wannabe ‘fans leaders’ is : campaign and protest on honest ground, not hypocritical ground – and don’t use the next issue that has nothing at all to do with the rebrand to again try and fan the flames against VT – have the courage to campaign on honest ground! - and if you truly are democratic, then if the vast majority will not go out and protest about the rebrand (that’s my assessment of the majority of our fan base, but if I’m wrong on that, I will bow to the majority view as I ask you to do), accept that and if you don’t want to do a TLG by all means stay, but accept that the tide of opinion is against you at this stage and maintain your opinions with dignity and honesty – that has been sadly lacking over the last few days. By all means remain vocal about how important the colours and badge are to you, but don’t use dishonest issues to use for that fight, which is what I think is what’s been done over this issue with MM!
I have always tried to respect all the different views of our fans and when I used to post, always did so by arguing against the pro change posters who used to try to wind up the pro blues - and I trust anyone reading this post will take it in the spirit it’s meant – a challenge to honesty in any protests, as all I want is the best for CCFC (as I’m sure all true fans would want).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(The reason for my leaving the forum was that I did a post in May outlining that I thought those who celebrated our promotion like crazy whilst singing anti VT songs were complete hypocrites (as it was his money that was far and away the main reason for the promotion) – a view I still hold to as strongly as I ever did. However, Polo(whose views I’ve respected) made a good argument that maybe I was also being hypocritical in posting on an anti VT forum when I was totally behind his vision for the club.
I initially argued against that (using the argument that the top of the page said that “all fans were welcome”), but in truth I ultimately accepted his logic and have not posted from that day to this about CCFC on this forum as I felt I would become a hypocrite to continue to do so (even though I’d posted for a long time before the rebrand, and the only thing that I want is the good of CCFC).
I hate the thought of being a hypocrite myself and just wish others would take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror and act honourably from this point on! If it really is the rebrand that is behind all this outpouring of hate over the last week, then come clean and don’t pretend it’s because of the MM issue – have the courage of your convictions and fight on the issue that really matters to you, not a side issue!
I shan’t post regularly again, as I know my views are not welcome on this forum.
