Stenson was electric today as he has been in the past few months. A very long hitter coupled with immense precision into the green. The 18th today was simply incredible golf, he made mincemeat of the hole for a tap in eagle.
Rumours are that he lost some large investment cash in the 2007/8 crash so glad to see him back in the winning circle after a few years away. Love to see him win a major. Watch out Tiger!
Stenson was sponsored by Allen Stanford back in 2006/7/8 and lost a large chunk of his personal savings and investments when Stanford went down the shitter. Rumoured to be several $million.
He did win the players championship shortly after that (beginning of 2009) so his slump from then on was not solely down to his financial hit and the obvious head fuck that could of caused. He has had this happen in his golf career on two occasions where he went from top 10 in the world to nowhere and then back again. Well he is back better than ever, incredible performance this week in Dubai, he was always a brilliant ball striker and very long. Only thing that is not great is his putting, if he had holed a number off short ones over the weekend he would have won by an even greater margin. Could be the difference between winning a major or not in the next few years. Had a few beers (well a skin full actually) with him a number of years back in Dubai (my old boss is Swedish and his daughter is married to Thomas Bjorn) and he is a really nice guy.
This could inspire me to climb up the rankings from Number 6,034,871,435 in the world to number 6,034,871,434.
