^Yep. "Spike" Sullivan talked a load of trash about David Lemieux before the fight, calling him "one dimensional", etc. However that one dimension that Lemieux does possess is knocking soup cans like Sullivan into next week. Good job.

And Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzales got back into the Superfly frame by turning back the years and knocking out his opponent Fuentes with a perfect one-punch right hook. Beaut!

GGG vs Canelo: I agree with the judges, Canelo had the better of the majority of rounds won, although not in the final third.

In two fights now he has stood up to a fighter who had previously laid waste to everyone put in front of him, and this time Canelo hurt him.

No doubt there will be a number 3, but Golovkin is in danger of following Pacquiao in the realms of the journeyman clinging on to past glories.

So he'd better win it convincingly, or take the money and find a nice beach for a while.

Who do you have winning the 12th round Harry? Its all on that. GGG its another draw. Wont work, on Mexican Independence day with DelaHoya production running the show in Vegas even though Canelo is not well regarded by many Mexican fans..

As you can see, Alvarez landed more punches, and he threw (and landed) a lot more power punches.

I guess that's what swung it.

Some major Heavyweight action this weekend. UK's unbeaten champ Anthony Joshua taking on Russia's Povetkin:
    World wide boxing news-1001091724-jpg-0-jpg

This Saturday on DAZN from Wembley Stadium in London, Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KO) returns to action to defend his WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles against WBA mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (34-1, 24 KO).
    https://www.badlefthook.com/2018/9/1...kin-down-early

Might be a potential upset in the works here. Although Povetkin is a serial drugs cheat, we is also actually a very good boxer. Former Olympic Gold medallist and only one previous loss; a decision to Vlad Klitschko. He is very mobile, and has really good handspeed and accurate punch combinations. Probably the best true Heavy that AJ has faced so far.
Joshua's power is always the factor here, and is much the bigger man. But Povetkin ain't easy to hit and is a really good counter-puncher.. Looking forward to this one.

^ he's nearly as old as Klitschko too at 38

That'll start about 4am Thai time I make it.

I'll set my alarm and see if Povetkin can last longer than my snooze button

^Age is but a number, and all that.. Thirty eight is young for a Heavyweight these days, and he ain't got too much mileage or gruelling fights behind him.

You really are a moron Harry. They are doing better than the majority of teams. I never said they would challenge the top three you idiot.

Back to boxing Joshua is a shit boxer and overrated he currently is doing all he can to avoid Deontay Wilder. If you do not want to take my word for it look to the words of Lewis or Fury who both have said so. But what do you know about boxing you think that compubox stats alone determine who should win a fight. Stick to your windows update thread.

Joshua certainly is not a shit boxer, but he is overrated and over-protected by his team who have deliberately nixed the showdown unification with Wilder that everyone wants to see.

I think a lot of people will be wanting Povetkin to win this fight. As Joshua's mandatory defense and #1 ranked challenger, his team can't give this one the swerve, fortunately.
Prediction: Joshua by KO within 6. Stick yer neck out..?

Yes, 'shit' because he's not as good as Schumacher.

    Seemed a bit binary.

That was 12 pints and 3 whiskey shots deep mate. Home from the pub at 3am and looking for shit to talk.

He is not a better boxer than most. Do you suggest he could have beat Vitali or Wladimir in his prime? That would be a bridge to far.

Thank the gods for that the fekking coward.

Maybe but I predict a slow fight with a lot of clinching and Povetkin trying for that one big shot.

do you argue otherwise? Shumie got good rides because he was fast in shit cars first unlike Hamilton.

Not sure, tbh. Although the Klitschkos were dominant for a while, the Heavyweight Division lacked a lot of talent and excitement during their reign. And they were not exciting fighters to watch at all, despite the high KO % ratios.. Joshua and Wilder for all their perceived faults have put a lot more charisma and excitement back into what should be the glamour division of boxing.

Well I disagree on Vitali being boring to watch. He had a thunderous punch and did not hesitate to brawl and exchange punches. I remember fondly his bout with Corrie Sanders that was a brawl. I will also say he is a big reason Lennox retired when he did as he did not want to have to fight Vitali again. That said Waldimer was not entertaining to watch this is true but in his prime setting lucky punches aside I would say he could have handled Joshua easily.

This is true and that is a big part of boxing.

The Klitschos are both shit boxers, they just happened to be a lot bigger and marginally less shit than anything else out there.

There has long been a shortage of decent boxers in the heavyweight division; it's why George Foreman was able to hold three of the titles at the ripe old age of 45.

As for Wilder, he's certainly good enough to beat that lardarse Fury which means he's got one more fight before Joshua drops him on his arse.

Povetkin will land a bomb on Joshua's chin at some point.

AJ still to win, late, a brave Povetkin being stopped on his feet rather than a knockout, in the last 3-4 rounds.

Joshua took some punches there and then woke up.

Wilder will be scared - that's assuming Fury doesn't windmill him to the deck.
