Meanwhile, in other news Deontay Wilder prepared for his upcoming Heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury by punching out some "mascot" on a television talk show this weekend.

Wilder apologised and said he "didn't know there was a real person inside the costume" before landing his trademark bazooka right hand, -breaking the mascot guy's jaw...

I have no idea why the show presenter would ask him to sock the mascot... And even less why a supposed professional like Wilder would oblige, and risk breaking his hand (and jeopardize the multi-million dollar payday due in just over a month) by letting fly at full strength.
Hopefully the mascot will get a huge compensation for this.. Absolutely fucking bonkers..

This guy succeeded in making Tyson Fury look relatively normal in publicity for their fight last week. That's not an easy thing to do.

Now he's broken the jaw of a mascot.

    Boxers.

I suppose it could all be a con to publicise the fight.

The heavyweight division IQ level dropped substantially after Dr. Wladimir retired.

Perhaps Fury borrowed the suit to find out how hard he could punch.

Or maybe he just wanted to look more intellectual?

    Like Eubank with his monocle?

Canelo Alvarez signs landmark boxing contract

CANELO Alvarez is boxing’s new half a billion dollar man.
Alvarez has signed an 11-fight $513 million (AUD) deal that his promotional company says is the richest athlete contract in sports history, guaranteeing the Mexican middleweight champion at least that much money to have his fights shown on the sports-streaming service DAZN in America, beginning with his next bout.
A massive moneymaker when he fought on pay-per-view, Alvarez will be able to be seen for much cheaper through the subscription service that launched in the US in September and now features perhaps the two biggest figures in boxing in Alvarez and heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
“We have No. 1 and No. 2. They’re the two most important fighters in the world,” DAZN executive chairman John Skipper said. “Canelo fighting on DAZN, we believe that that will help us attract some of the other fighters, some of the other premier fighters.”
Alvarez will move up in weight to challenge WBA super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding on December 15 at Madison Square Garden.

Absolute cracker of a fight this morning (Thai time) on Boxnation. Miguel Berchelt defending his Lightweight (130lbs) title against another Mexican fighter Mickey Roman, in the challenger's backyard (Texas).
The term 'warrior' is over used these days, and not just in fighting circles, but the punishment these guys handed out to each other was phenomenal over nine rounds.
A bit painful to watch near the end, but Roman especially is one of the toughest guys I've ever seen in the ring. Shades of Barrera - Morales here, two Mexicans who don't like each other, and the normally smooth boxer Berchelt throwing caution (and reach advantage) to the wind to try starch the other guy.
Fight of the Year 2018 contender.
    On youtube while it lasts:

In Manchester this weekend, (never mind the footie) Cruiserweight's most dominant force since the Earth cooled takes on Scouse gobshite Tony Bellew..

All four belts on the line (+ Ring Magazine strap) belonging to Olyksandr Usyk (top #3 P4P star) against challenger Bellew (who is also coming down in weight for this fight), who is a massive underdog for this fight, getting the job due mainly to his over-hyped and meaningless couple of 'fights' against David Haye.

Usyk testing the waters for a move up to Heavyweight and serious money fights. He is a fantastic boxer / puncher that has easily beat everyone so far. Bellew has a puncher's chance only.

That would be an interesting thing to see. He has the frame for it.

^Estimated ringwalk (main event) starting around 10PM, BST, according to the Manchester Evening News. Only on Sky Box Office, unless you can get a live feed.

Okay, so this weekend we have the world's 2 best Heavyweights (other than Anthony Joshua) meeting up.

    World wide boxing news-wilder-fury-jpg

Deontay Wilder. Tyson Fury. Two of the best heavyweights in the world today, poised to take center stage this Saturday night in Las Vegas, live on Showtime pay-per-view.
Wilder, 33, will be defending his WBC title belt. Fury, 30, is still considered by many to be the heavyweight division’s lineal champion.
There’s a lot on the line, and it’s one of the biggest fights of 2018, years in the making.
But it hasn’t always been this way for either fighter. Both came into the sport with hype. Fury because he’s a big, tall, trash talking, charismatic heavyweight with, let’s face it, one of the greatest names you’ll ever hear for a fighter.

Wilder still the betting favourite, but I reckon some late money will start rolling in for Fury. Intriguing match-up, as both guys are still undefeated. Fury has the footwork, feints, awkward style and reach. Wilder has frightening power, especially the Lars-missile right hand.

I'm slightly biased for Fury, going the distance or even a late rounds stoppage, but Wilder possesses the single biggest equalizer in boxing nowadays; that right hand.

    Who are you picking?

Well, I'm going with this insightful website...

Fury because he’s a big, tall, trash talking, charismatic heavyweight with, let’s face it, one of the greatest names you’ll ever hear for a fighter.
The kind of forecast and reasoning you'd come up with if you were about thirteen.

When's the weigh in? Everyone reckons Fury's looking a bit anorexic.

Funny how Wilder says 400 years when he only took up boxing at age 20
