Thread: Tickets to an Arsenal Game

One of my co-workers is planning a trip to England to see a team called the Arsenal play in April. Does anyone know a reputable broker he can purchase tickets from? In the US, I use a site like stubhub.com for tickets to basketball/baseball games. Is there a similar type of website in England?

I wouldn't expect you'd have any trouble from the US from a major player in the ticket business.
I wouldn't buy them in Thailand!

I would suggest, although I don't know 'cos I ain't never been down the Arse that, like most top football clubs in the UK these days, tickets are only available for fully paid members. Even if you were a member would be no guarantee of getting a ticket and would probably require you to book several weeks in advance.

Certainly this is the case with United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and others. Everton use ticketmaster to sell theirs, bt that's 'cos they can't sell all the tickets every week. As Arsenal are so successful and their stadium is so small I would say the only way for a non-member to get a ticket would be to pay a tout anywhere between 100 and 300 quid (maybe more if it's a big game).

What, you have to be a member to get a ticket?

Yes they have Red *Members*, Silver *Members* and Gold *Members*. Goldies get first shout on all tickets.

It seems the process for getting tickets in England is pretty convoluted. But I guess nothing in the US approaches the popularity of the English soccer league.

Its up to 50 quid for seats in the North Bank, slightly cheaper in other parts of the ground.

I asked my mate, the Arsenal fan. It seems that ticket prices from touts will depend on a number of factors:

The teams playing
The weather
Whether the match is also on TV - that's television, not Thai Visa.
And of course on how much the tout thinks the customer is willing to pay - and he advised that disguising the fact that one is American would be a good idea.

Recognising touts is apparently a bit of an art - look out for blokes on their own who appear to be mumbling to themselves.

Prices from touts ??? one of those games in April is an Arsenal V Spurs, tickets might be as much as £300 - the other two are likely to be cheaper.

You know that you could damn near get a return ticket to Bangkok for that sort of money.

Do you mean season ticket holders?

Anyway OP, why not try emailing the club direct and beg that you are only here for two weeks, life long fan yada yada yada and see what happens.
