finally a french win. still, never mind, no sign of any french rider who could actually be a contender. thought the punishment dished out to froome was pathetic, a strenuous mountain top finish and no goodies allowed in the last few Ks, ridiculous. still, as predicted by moi, quintana looks good for a podium finish, perhaps runner-up? can see him putting more time into contador tomorrow

Maybe a day later, Saxo's been having a bad day, followed by a good one for all this Tour. Froome was lucky that Porte was still around, might have lost many minutes. Yeah, now it looks like Quintana and Purito will push Contador off the podium.

another stage win for my boys, great stuff.think the poor conditions towards the end actually helped froome as it meant it was too dangerous for any gc contenders to break. should be a great mountain finale tomorrow, only seconds seperating 2nd and 5th

what do you think of the spectators?
I find it so annoying and want a snow-plow, or a Roman-style chariot with blades on the wheels ahead of the riders
Have had 2 decent cycle accidents, worst occurred in a cycle leg of a triathlon, hit side on by someone trying to cross the road an underestimating my speed down a hill. There goes my shoulder and collarbone.

back in the field and don't think this got any tv coverage, what a name - but not Jack Bauer from the 24 tv series (he'd have kept on cycling)

Garmin Sharp rider Jack Bauer (NZ) suffered a horrendous crash in the Tour de France last night which has ended his race.

"He got going again on the descent, and just because there were cars coming by on the descent, on his left hand, I think he got a little spooked by one of the cars," Vaughters said.

"He went off the side of the road and it was where the pavement had a big differential, and he went into a ditch and just lipped over right into this half barbwire - I don't know if it was electric or not, but the way he was screaming, it sure seemed like it."

"The wires went into his face. It was ... really unfortunate accident. No one really to blame, just one of those things that happens when people are tired and the tension is on," he said.

another great day for my movietar team; stage win, 2nd overall and king of the mountains. quintana has been a revelation but unless he somehow improves his time trialling, will never win it. so its two years in a row for us English, great stuff. and france are as far away as ever from having a contender. shame nibali didnt ride - now that would have made it interesting. going to be weird seeing it finish on the champs elysees in the evening tomorrow - camped out there in the heat in 96,97 and 2007

Top rider, but English? that's stretching it.
Recent British immigrant, he's hardly 'English' is he? Imagine his friends, family in Kenya and SA are equally claiming him as one of 'theirs'

2008: "Although I was riding under the Kenyan flag I made it clear that I had always carried a British passport and felt British."

    he is a Convenient Brit

. . . one of Froome's legion of media inquisitors asks him: "Are you proud to be British?" It happens every day and I bury my head as he answers, every day, "100%" in an African accent.

Froome was born in Kenya, educated in South Africa and used to ride for Kenya. Outside of a few over-nighters during last summer's Olympics, no one is really sure whether he's ever done a week in a British bed.

Convenient Brits: This is where we really struggle—with athletes we want in British colors when they play well and who we are not so sure about when they don't. Rusedski, Froome, Lennox Lewis, Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott (both South Africans in the England cricket team), Manu Tuilagi and Brad Barritt (England rugby players from Samoa and South Africa).

I heared the first time of Quintana this year only, one of the Eurosport commentators expected him to become the best climber since Marco Pantani. Pantani still holds the record of the fastet climb on the Alp D'Huez.

Froome was the most convincing winner for a long time, 3 stage victories in the mountains and the time trial. Amazing attack of him on the last hill when he rode away from Contador. Hope Contador is back stronger next year, but it feels like the end of an era. 7 Grand Tour wins to his name.

If you are an amateur road cyclist and look for a serious challenge, google for La Marmotte. That's a one day race in the Alps tougher than the toughest stages in the Tour. A former winner is ten Dam, before he turned professional. Must have helped him with a contract.

what a wonderful 100th Tour de France, shame Cav couldnt have won it again on the Champs Elysees. his fear that Kittel was his biggest rival came true. Ive warmed to Froome over the last 3 weeks and he is a truly deserving winner and what a great speech at the end. what about the light show ; c'est magnificent!

great to see quintana on the podium. already making preparations for leeds/harrogate next summer.
see y'all at the vuelta; cant wait for the Angry Lou!!!
