    Royal Ascot 2012

    Starts today
My tip of the day is

    Sir Prancealot in the 4.25

The superstar Frankel goes in the 2.30 and should be worth a watch, he will start at around 1-7 Favourite

    Tuesday
In contrast to most other aspects of life where the best is saved until last, Royal Ascot’s first day is invariably the best of the week. Continuing the back-to-front theme, Frankel, the best horse in the world, should have won the Queen Anne Stakes (2.30) before the Queen is comfortably seated in the Royal Box. Gabrial can land the St James’s Palace (3.45) while the post-racing scene in the owners’ and trainers’ car park, where trainers attempt to outdo each other in the hospitality stakes, should not be missed.
    Wednesday
So You Think attempts to avenge his unexpected defeat in last year’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes (3.45), but the Queen’s Carlton House stands in his way and could well provide another hats-off moment in Jubilee year. He would be Her Majesty’s 21st winner at the meeting. Once again it looks difficult for punters with huge fields and the added complication that soft-ground form will be redundant on Ascot’s quick-drying track. Hayley Turner has yet to crack a Royal Ascot winner and will be hoping Boom And Bust can do that in the Royal Hunt Cup (4.25).
    Thursday
Ladies’ Day is the one day fashion is allowed to upstage the horses but on the course Fame And Glory looks one of the bankers of the week in the Gold Cup (3.45). He won it last year, has beaten most of these before and it would seem only a much-improved performance from Saddler’s Rock can stop him. Overturn, a 25-1 shot whose last public engagement was carrying the Olympic flame in Chester, is good each-way value. Sir Roger Bannister will present the trophy for the Britannia Stakes (4.25), quite possibly to the connections of Fast And Free.
    Friday
The three-year-old filly miler’s crown is up for grabs in the Coronation Stakes (3.45) with the English and Irish Guineas winners, Homecoming Queen and Samitar, taking on each other again. Samitar’s trainer, Mick Channon, may, however, come to Frankie Dettori’s aid with his second-string Laugh Out Loud. If the King Edward VII (3.05) is the Derby consolation then it should go to Epsom third Astrology, although Frankel’s little brother Noble Mission looks like the step up in trip will suit.
    Saturday
A national day of mourning will be declared in Australia if the unthinkable happens in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (3.45) and Black Caviar is beaten. But the Aussies should be reminded that two of the Europeans in the Hardwicke (3.05), Dunaden and Red Cadeaux, finished first and second in the race that stops their nation, the Melbourne Cup, last November. Champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls makes his Royal Ascot debut with American Trilogy, whose ability is not matched by his devotion to duty, in the Queen Alexandra (5.35).

You've sent Aussie horses abroad before and they've gone back.

    Takeover Target being one

He won his first 7 races and his first race in Blighty

^ Willie Carson said in an interview yesterday that when the horse dies and has an autopsy he reckons the heart and lungs will be abnormal.
I would have thought x-rays could have shown these up before he dies.
Be interesting to see who they pair him up with at stud.

Ha ha, Good thinking that they surely will test his love juice before retiring him or we could se a removal job of the sphericals and then that would propel him another 10% of speed, awsome and scary sight to see.

Yeah, as Kwang said above, he atarted out at 1-10 which made all the others decent each way pics... Looked very strong, I'd like to see how the 2nd placed horse (lost to Frankel 5 times) does in the classics (if entered), if he/she gets within 5 lengths of the winner then that would be a decent form guide on how good Frankel really is. Does look very good.

    ^ ...

Moonlight Cloud looks like a strong Group 1 performer, but you'd expect BC to win by a fair few lengths if she is indeed all the Aussies say she is.

Just a note from another Group 1 at Ascot this week:

"Black Caviar's jockey Luke Nolen got a useful taste of the Royal Ascot straight when partnering Medicean Man into fourth for British-based compatriot Jeremy Gask but heavily fancied Ortensia let the side down for the Aussies when she failed to mount a serious challenge."
    Bated Breath | Racing Post

Let's hope for the sake of our Aussie frineds that BC doesn't go the same way...

Frankel got within .07 of the course record yesterday and he raced on good to soft ground

Wednesday, 20 June 2012: Frankel was today given a provisional Timeform rating of 147 for his Queen Anne victory at Royal Ascot, a figure which would put him at the top of the all-time list of Flat ratings.

David Johnson, Timeform 's Flat Editor, commented "The facts are that Frankel's performance is likely to surpass anything witnessed in Timeform's 64-year history. To give some perspective on just how phenomenal this effort was, in provisionally rating Frankel 147, we still have Excelebration (runner-up) running more than a stone below his previous best (133). A point worth emphasising is the consistency with which Frankel has produced such performances. This is the fifth time that he has produced a 140+ rating."

Jamie Lynch, Timeform's Chief Correspondent, reflected "Frankel has now proved himself the ultimate racehorse by breaking new ground in terms of ratings, and the thrilling aspect is we're only two races into his defining season, so it's not out of the question he could go higher still with different challenges ahead, including the tantalising prospect of meeting Camelot over a longer trip or targeting the Breeders' Cup."

    Timeform's All-Time Highest-Rated Horses

    147 Frankel (Provisional)
    145 Sea Bird II
    144 Brigadier Gerard, Tudor Minstrel
    142 Abernant, Ribot, Windy City
    141 Mill Reef
140 Dancing Brave, Dubai Millennium, Sea The Stars, Shergar, Vaguely Noble

I saw John Maccirick's interview with the guy and his wife that own Black Caviar and Maccirick being the knobhead he is was really giving it the big one agains the Aussies, cricket and other things regarding our nations rivalry.
The man and his wife were delightful to say the least, humble unasuming and just real nice folk so on that basis alone i really hope their pride and joy wins for them.
BC has 19 assistants that have flown over, chiropractor, physio etc, no stone unturned here.

If those Timeform ratings are to be believed, the jockey on Camelot will need a pair of binoculars to see where Frankel is

Can Excelebration really be this good? Frankel has beaten him 5 times, and by 10 lengths a couple of times... strange, unless Frankel is different class - I'd like to see Excelebration winning top class group 1 races to show that Frankel really is what they say.

BC has a great rating too; bring on Saturday...

Barney Curley brought Tom Queally to England to get a job race riding.
I bet 10 or so years ago that Tom would not have believed he would be sitting on and winning Group 1 races with ease.
    Oh, i nearly forgot, Frankel.

I do get sick of silly little Willy. (Unlike the sapphically inclined Clare Balding who has pretty much grown to become BBC's lead presenter across the board)

The only reason they had him on telly so much forty years ago was because Lester Piggott was so deaf and mumbled all the time.

The thing I don't like about him now is him saying 'Sooooo, is this horse the best of alllllll taim?' ......which is his standard filler and he does it far too much. Eg with Harbinger two years ago.

Is it worth me downloading frankel's victory, or is there a Youtube link. I just wonder if he's beating horses that he deserves to beat ten lengths.

A good win, could've been more impressive..., but not easy to travel halfway around the globe and still perform at your peak.
