^ Yeah, it was really well done. Good first hand accounts told in a typical British stiff-upper-lip manner, from normal young lads suddenly presented with carrying out and witnessing horrific acts. Dentists were certainly in short supply.

    Stan & Ollie

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertain...ectid=12204900

I've not actually seen it so can't rightly recommend it however that being said a biopic pic of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy with Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly in the leads would be a fairly safe bet in my books. Seems to be reviewing well also.

Has anyone actually finished Umbrella Academy?

Is it worth persevering, because I'm struggling after two episodes.

I got up to the penultimate episode a couple/few days ago and still haven't bothered with the season finale. I suppose I will eventually but that'll be it for me even if there's another season.

"De Dag" (The Day) (2018). Excellent Belgian 12-episode bank heist TV series. 8.6 IMDB. Format's quite different. One episode is seen through the eyes of the cops, the next...of the same events.....as viewed by the crooks. This, of course, leads to some viewing redundancy, but is key to working out all the complex twists and turns. Good stuff.

"Ordeal By Innocence" (2018) (BBC three-part mini-series). 7.3 IMDB. Based on an Agatha Christie book of the same name. Not to be confused with the original movie, which got scathing reviews. Also not to be confused with a 2017 US TV series. I've not watched it yet, but I got two e-mails today from trusted folks highly recommending it.

PC cast and poor ending, got panned by Christie fans as did the even worse ABC murders they did after this. They have to change the books to fit in with their modern day multi cultural narrative and leftist views. This review from IMDB

I've been an Agatha Christie fanatic ever since I was a teenager; I've watched all the adaptations I've ever come across, most are great, both movies and TV series. But, in contrast to recent very impressive movie adaptations, the quality of the TV dramas the BBC makes out of Agatha's classic seems to be in a steady decline. It's understandable that scriptwriters are desperately looking for some way to make the stories who are well-known to millions of fans look different, 'new' in some way - but this is in NO way an excuse for literally RAPING a classic murder mystery, as has been done in this case.

^Per the reviews, folks either loved it or hated it. Christie purists all hated it. I don't like her books, and have never watched anything based on one, so I shall watch it later with an open mind. If it interests me, fine; if not, binned and fine too.

Thanks, Prag...It's already on Netflix, however (Suburra)...And I don't really watch most series intently...It's all background stuff while I stay up to date on my mobile...

But in the realm of the thug motif, Peaky (Fookin') Blinders is one that I'd watch more closely...

Those crazy Irish barstards are the best...

    Dogs of Berlin
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs_o...in_(TV_series)

just started watching this on netflix and looks promising. Murder, drugs , sex , gambling , football, racism ....in Berlin.

Police officers Erol Birkan and Kurt Grimmer investigate the murder of the fictional German-Turkish football star Orkan Erdem. The act sends Berlin into a frenzy, and the list of potential suspects is long: neo-Nazis from the Marzahnborough of Berlin, the Lebanese family clan from the same neighborhood as the footballer, Turkish nationalists angry with the superstar playing for Germany instead of Turkey, football fans, and the Berlin mafia. The chain of evidence may even lead to the highest offices of the capital. In order to uncover the truth, the two police officers have to venture deep down into the Berlin underworld

Yeah so a cliff-hanger set-up for another season...

    That I won't be watching.

By the end I was hoping Hayes would have an 'episode' near a very steep drop.
