You have a point but there is another side to it that is hard to understand unless you have it but basically the advantage is you can fall ass backwards into watching a ton of really good stuff that you never would have seen or even heard of otherwise, or that you wouldn't have bothered downloading.

TONS of 4K content. You can't get that downloading, and that is a totally valid and worthwhile reason to own it. Certainly the best "objective" reason to have it. If you have a 4K TV and are only watching stuff you download, you may as well not even own the TV in the firstplace.

Plus there is the fun of "channel/show surfing" but that's really just secondary.

AND lastly you can share the account with 2 or 3 other people. I do and pay like $4 US a month. Even if I watch like 2 or 3 hours a month its already basically been worth not having to hastle with downloading, hooking up my PC to my TV, and transferring.

Summary reasons to own it: convenience and quality (both picture and programming).

Plus its nice to pay people who make quality things, if that floats yer boat at all

...when you have a moment Red, could you list your top 5 viewing experiences on Netflix, not including Stranger Things?...I seem to wallow in dross, e.g., Designated Survivor, Star Trek, something about a suburban vampire, etc....

Ozarks was excellent, Narcos is great, House of Cards is pretty good (I'm sure you already have an opinion there), I liked 13 Reasons Why (even if it was a bit "teenish"), Making a Murderer was pretty solid for a doco, Orange is the New Black has its moments (a lot less so lately).

Gonna have to think of more. I should use it more than I do because google tells me there is a ton of good shit I'm just not even getting to.

In 4K? Safe to say you haven't seen that

No one has argued that the shows aren't on torrent sites.

True. 1080 is more than adequate for my simple needs. Or 720 for that matter.

Just downloaded "Mudbound" but haven't watched it yet. From the description, it sounds very similar to a movie I watched some years ago, but the black and white veterans had returned from the Civil War. But, can't find it or remember the name of the movie.

    Singularity

I downloaded this because it had John Cusack in it, who I generally like.

Michael Caine is quoted as saying about "Jaws: The Revenge" I have never seen it, but by all accounts, it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.

I wonder what sort of house John Cusack built?

Mentioning the names of a ton of really good stuff that we've never seen or even heard of would underline that point nicely.

Finished the Crown 2, brilliant writing and acting with the Edward 8th episode being the best, the Kennedy one did not seem truthful and the one with Prince Philip and his sister caused a bit of reaction. Nice locations, but using Belvoir castle for Windsor was not very convincing, the Buck house one looked the business though. Hope they go on and cover the Diana years, poor old Charles comes across as a damp eyed nancy boy, weak soppy and as the Queen said to Diana (according to Diana) 'Charles is Hopeless' -about right there.

Of all, I thought the Kennedy one was the weakest episode. Interesting family - wonder if Sparkle Markle has watched it to see what she's buying into......

Singularity - I watched about twenty minutes before giving up. Awful, just awful. Acting like you see from a school play. Cusack must have been blackmailed to get him to participate.

    .............................

    ”Ghost Wars”.

New TV series from SY-FY. Turned it on out of curiosity, not expecting much. I’ve now watched every episode. The storyline sounds lame, an island isolated by an earthquake is attacked by malevolent ghosts, but it’s well written with decent actors and surprisingly addictive. New episode out today.

Take a look at S01E01 of Counterpart. It popped up on EZTV last week.

A hard-to-describe sort of Scifi/Espionage theme with JK Simmons.

Good enough for me to see what happens in E02.

For those that were asking about Netflix, I won't post the whole thing here but this link lists everything that's coming in January.

    It also lists what's leaving...

I have been following "Da Vincis Demons", Its a Starz series. Has a Game of Thrones twist.

There are lots of good shows out there. I have a 80" Samsung Smart TV. 720P X 264 MKV files are best.

Good recent Movies are "American Assassin" and "The Foreigner"

Maybe you're most familiar with the reality of that setting, thus the fabrication was less convincing?

Markle would surely be best off investigating realities.

Possible. Neither looked anything like the Kennedys, so that was a part of it.

Well you've probably heard of shows like Ozarks and Narcos because people stumble into them and then word spread that they are fucking awesome.

Pretty unneccassarily harsh tone you've got going there mister. Can't say I care for it
