    On TV.
Is it the TV that's the limitation or are you running one of these?

^I don't know, or care, much about computers. I download a movie using BitTorrent. It dumps it into my Plex Media server - either into the movie file or the TV series file. I look in the appropriate Plex file on my 62" TV, and watch the movie. Computer is in my office; TV is in the Master Bedroom. Some kind of WIFI voodoo moves the movie from one room to the other. Works flawlessly. But, 1080 gets so jumpy you can't watch it. I never cared enough to investigate why.

Ah OK well that's just because you have shit wifi then.

Run an ethernet cable or use Powerline adapters and you can stream 1080p to your hearts content.

(Alternatively just buy a cheap Android box and hard disk, and just save the stuff you download to that. Then you can play it seamlessly from the bedroom with the added benefit of a remote control).

Well another workaround is just to copy 1080p files to a USB drive and plug it into the TV; most new-ish TVs can play files from flash drives.

And you can control that with the TV remote.

^We've used a variety of WIFI boosters over the years, with mixed results. A few weeks ago, he jerked them out and put a computer on the floor next to the TV. Everything has been perfect since, but I haven't tried a 1080 since the upgrade. I'm downloading the Xmas special now, Might work....

It should work. It's not big enough to be a true 1080p.

The new shows this fall have been a big disappointment and I've already stopped watching most of them. With one exception : Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland.

And there is "Chance" with Hugh Laurie. Not so sure yet what to think of it.

Worked fine. I guess after our last tweak here, I do get 1080; I just hadn't checked since the upgrade. Thanks. Although I must say I saw no real difference in the picture quality. I'll try a 1080 movie today.

I'd be surprised if it hasn't already been mentioned in the thread somewhere already, but last night I started watching 'The Returned' (French original not the US remake).

It has been sitting on my hard drive for ages and I don't know why I never got around to watching it until now but, two episodes in, it's fucking superb!

First season is very good. Second season I gave up after the third episode. Let me know if I should give it a second try.

Actually I did the same with most of the French series like Braquo, Spiral (one of the best nonetheless) and No Limit. First and second season are usually ok, after it gets boring.

I also enjoyed 'the returned', up to the last episode of season one...I found the ending very flat.

Also watched the first one or two of season two, but the downbeat feel of the season one ending persisted and it seemed to have run out of steam.

I watched the first episode of 'designated survivor' today. Given the storyline I was expecting some shock and awe pyrotechnics but that didn't happen. Seemed rather generic and I probably won't bother with the rest.

been watching the new series of Black Mirror....Charlie Brooker's ultra-nihilistic vision of the technology consumed society.

it's great stuff but so bladdy bleak.

    This was excellent

Alex, an immigrant from Ukraine comes to Canada and becomes involved with an online criminal organization called Darkweb. He learns to rip off credit cards, ATMs, break into banks and eventually the stock market. He engages a network of service staff to help collect information, and partners with a guy named Sye, and a girl named Kira, to help sell the online-bought merchandise. What starts off as a way to help his parents financially, soon becomes a personal vendetta against the entire banking system, when his mother is fired from her job at the bank. Inspired by true events.
Bangkok also featues in the movie....

Finished season 2 of Narcos, great but the 2 next just won't be as good without Pablo around. Would have been better if they had stuck to the truth a little bit more and it would have been just as good if they had.

^^ripping off 'goodfellas' and 'casino' a bit less often would have been an improvement too.

You would probably be better off giving this film a miss. "Left wing lunatic Loach" is not adequate to describe this socialist twit. He was put in his place a few days when he was forced to admit that he flies business class every five minutes between the UK and the USA and lives the life of a "Champagne Socialist". It's easy to be a socialist when one is worth millions.

I started watching AMC's 'Preacher' last night.

Couple of episodes in and I'm a little underwhelmed. I'm a huge fan of the source material so I had been really looking forward to it but - granted it's a difficult book to film - it hasn't met expectations yet.

    Hoping it improves.

    it does.

i wasn't overly impressed with the pilot but it does improve.

as far as i know the tv series is a prequel to the actual graphic novels. therefore, i'd be expecting it to be much better when the story we know and love kicks off in series 2.
