I've been watching Backstrom because I like Rainn Wilson, but I keep hoping it will get better (it marginally improved over the next few episodes after the pilot)- I'm sticking with it as the characters may find themselves a bit and the show might hit its stride.

Which one is Raiin Wilson FS? I didn't recognise any of the actors in the first episode and that is often a big gamble by the producer/director, who wants to demonstrate the importance of plot and direction, without the distraction of star names.
I still think is has possibilities, so that means it will disappear after series 1.

1st 2 episodes of Gallipoli are out, an eight part mini series on the ANZAC campaign.

Quite good for an Aussie made for TV show.

    ^^

The guy who plays Backstrom- he played 'Dwight' in the U.S. version of 'The Office', and he was great in that role. He's not a 'big' star, but he's very well-known in the States.

Thanks for that. Didn't like the UK version of the office so didn't watch the US version either. He does play scruffy and flawed, yet clever, very well in Backstrom.

I just noticed that House of Cards S3E1-4 are up on Torrent Day. I thought Netflix usually releases the whole season at once.

I thought they'd already accidentally leaked the first ten?

I downloaded episodes form the TV series of 12 Monkeys. Watched a couple of them and it wasn't at all bad, but having watched the movie several times I know how the story evolves. This is kind of an extended version without the Gilliam-esque eccentricity. Watchable though especially with eye candy in the form of Amanda Schull.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

A new pilot for a show called "Dig" can be found at the usual places. Has a decent pedigree so I'll give it a shot:

Jerusalem may be the holiest city on Earth, but it's hiding an unholy secret. When FBI agent Peter Connelly takes a job in Israel to leave personal demons behind, he is assigned to investigate a young American's murder there. While trying to figure out what happened to the American, Connelly becomes embroiled in a conspiracy thousands of years in the making that has the potential not only to reveal some of the city's darkest secrets but also to change the course of history. As Connelly tries to piece everything together -- under the guidance of new boss and occasional lover Lynn Monahan -- he soon realizes that he might not be the only person looking for answers. The 10-episode thriller was created by Tim Kring and Gideon Raff, producers behind hit series "Heroes" and "Homeland," respectively.

Just watched "The Imitation Game". Very good. 8/10. *I know it's been reviewed here before...I've had it in queue for a while. Much better than I expected.

I gave it a 7/10 in the Movie Review thread. Not as good as I hoped it would be.

Just watched Rod Steiger in "In The Heat of The Night', and then in "The Pawnbroker".

What a great actor. A redneck small-town southern sheriff in one, and a Jewish concentration camp survivor in the other. Each role played beautifully.

I like the old classics just for performances such as these - which are sadly lacking in the pap we are served today.
