Crap film in my opinion. About as funny as a cold sore on the lip. Sorry, just my opinion. Watched 20-25 minutes, that was enough

Carl Casper is an acclaimed chef with a family life that seems as decaying as his artistic freedom. Those frustrations boil over into a raucous viral-videoed public confrontation against a restaurant critic who panned his cooking of food that his boss ordered him to make against his instincts. Now with his career ruined, Carl's ex-wife offers an unorthodox solution in Miami: refit an old food truck to offer quality cooking on his own terms. Now with his young son, Percy, and old colleague, Martin, helping, Carl takes a working trip across America with that truck to rediscover his gastronomic passion. With Percy's tech savvy and Martin's enthusiasm, Carl finds that he is creating a traveling sensation on the way home. In doing so, Carl discovers he is serving up more than simply food, but also a deeper connection with his life and his family that is truly delicious in its own way.

    Sounds positively cack.

I watched Season 1 of Luther (2010) today.

Turned out to be a British BBC offering and it was pretty good. Police drama, 6 parter but season 2 and 3 are 4 parts a piece.

    Worth a look in.

The Killing - with Susan Sarandon. Sort of Fargoesque.

Does season 2 and 3 live up to expectations?

    Would anyone recommend Gang Related?

    ^ Yes and yes.

I thought Luther was great throughout.

Gang related I thought was quite good. I'm a few episodes behind now as things higher up the pecking order came along, but I will catch up eventually.

I've completed all 3 seasons of Luther now and they really were excellent.

Good news is that there's a movie in the pipeline, and a spin-off centered around Alice.

This is good. We like Alice.

"The Odd Angry Shot". Aussie SAS in the early years of Vietnam. Rare that I find a Vietnam movie I've never seen. Kind of funny in spots, but they look very real in the field. I worked with the Aussie SAS in 1968 when I was with the 101st Airborne Long Range Recon Teams. Never seen a movie about them before.

Not a great movie, but an interesting period piece.

I thought Luther was good not great. Maybe a little dark for my tastes. Idris Elba will always be Stringer Bell to me.

    The Prince (2014).

Jason Patric playing a former villain/soldier hunting for his missing daughter. Fairly formulaic thriller along the lines of "Taken" with bit parts for Bruce Willis and John Cusack.

    6/10.

    I watched Transcendence Last night.

I thought it was pretty good in a weird kind of way. A scientist (Depp) is given a short time to live and they attempt to upload his mind/soul to survive his body.

Worth more that the critics gave it I'll give it a 7/10.

Just finished TV show tonight. Great show.

Why did you loathe the movie? It is easily in my top ten movies of the 90s.

The TV show also had a very similar atmosphere and black sense of humour.

^Didn't like the main actor, or the pregnant sheriff lady - found them both too irritating to watch.

I read that William H. Macy threatened to shoot the Coens' dogs if they did not give him the part (probably apocryphal!).

Frances McDormand is married to one of the Coens so she appears in a few of their movies.

While looking at IMDB about The Prince, I saw mention of a 2012 John Cusack movie called "The Factory", which was apparently so bad it never even got a theatrical release in the UK, instead going to DVD.

I know, I know, all the signs were there, but I watched it anyway.

    About 5/10.

Cop on hunt for serial killer has to up his game when said killer kidnaps his daughter.
