True Visions - World Cup Thai commentary only!

    Those robbing f**kers!

I just called to get HD from True so I could watch some games of the World Cup at home. Firstly I was told that my building can't get the HD feed. So I got a bit pissy and asked her how am I supposed to watch the World Cup. She replied "local TV". I said but I want English commentary, why the fuck should I pay True. Her reply "Even with HD 100% cannot get English commentary, we don't have a license for the English feed".

Those sneaky cheeky fucks! First they get you to switch to HD just for the World Cup, lying to some people in some cases saying yes English, no ploplem (they told FP this). And then no, no English Thai only.

Man those sneaky robbing fuckers piss me off big time!

No those cheeky fuckers! Lying to people, forcing those that want to watch to upgrade.

    Man they piss me off!

A lot of people in a lot of pubs are going to be seriously pissed off! This might be the end for True! Shady operation.

But 4 years ago they didn't force their subscribers to upgrade to HD, making a quick buck off their subscribers. Lying to them telling them yes it's in English.

Sickening, they should be lynched. I hate those assholes.

I did the same one year ago, and got Multichoice out of South Africa. Great programming, wonderful sport coverage, films that were far in advance of True, magazine channels like BBC Lifestyle, BBC Entertainment, Sky News. All in all, wonderful channels, and very, very good picture quality.

Unfortunately Multichoice pulled the plug on the 31st May. I bought into True HD, which is a complete joke. To elaborate, there are 2 HD channels. HBO HD (Movies), and True Sport HD.

    1. HBO HD has exactly the same movies as the regular HBO (Channel 43) showing. If a movie happens to be in HD, then you will get the benefit through watching on Channel 112). If not, there's not difference than the normal HBO Channel. At the moment, I am going to hazard a guess that maybe 30-40% of movies on HBO are broadcast in HD.

    2. True Sport HD is a waste of space. Prior to the French Open tennis tournament, it advertised all kinds of different programmes, none of which were shown. The French Open Tennis Tournament coverage was actually very good, and the picture quality superb. However, the tournament has now been finished for some 4 days, and all they are showing is the same tournament. Big joke. Bottom line is they have not purchased programmes to go forward with this event.

I used to laugh when living in deepest darkest Isaan with my free, supersport channels from South Africa. Every game you could imagine from Sky Sports with the full commentary.

Good luck with it Filch. Maybe send them some poo through the post or something.

btw, was this what bars were going to use for their English commentary showing?

    Hope not.

Been the same since its inception. Well the first couple years as IBC were great. We had a pitchfork on our roofs. The toxin got it and it became UBC and went to shit. Who got it after that is from South Africa I think. Sucks even more.

If CAT comes through with their new announcement of 25mg+ lines 400,000 of them in the next 18 months, maybe True can be killed.

Pisses me off that the internet has gotten so much better, while the TV has just declined. They really are not aware that its not only farungs who love good programming its everybody on Gold or Platinum. We are sick of this shit.

Don't hold your breath. Historically CAT have proven themselves incapable of organizing a piss up in a brewery.

No shit look at 3G and now the delay in 3.9. But that they were against. My guess is the right palms were not greased after the governmental changes. So we have to hopefully wait for this.

Which sadly I realize as I type does not apply to me I have Telecom Asia line which in fact is True.

Cheers, if it wasn't for the live premiership games I would have abandoned them long ago.

Yes, I do believe, and I think some pubs are still unaware that there is no English commentary. Looks like they will have to do a combo of radio audio feed (or something similar) along with the broadcasting. Which really isn't great, FP is going to try the Malaysian audio to see what language they broadcast in.

The only high side. If they have true internet the service at 2mb works well, at 4mb very well. Finally they have almost opened enough portals. The audio will be there for sure.

Now watch me put my foot in my mouth. The football and gambling crazy Thai's overload the new capacity....

The likes off BBC have a few seconds delay on their live broadcasts.
    How do I know?

Exactly, it will ruin the world cup experience for sure. Like back in the 'good' old days.

Yep this has pissed me off a bit. I asked my secretary to call true and ask if they will be showing the new HD channels with English commentary. Whilst she was on the phone to them she turned to me and said "Yes they are" I said "To confirm, they are showing the world cup with English language?" she spoke to them and turned back and said "Yes you can choose English or Thai from the remote controller" "O.k then, order it" I said.

I already had the Malaysian feed hooked up and ready to show it with English commentary but I thought that there is no harm in having the HD as well if its a better picture.

If its true that True will only have it in Thai then I'll show the opening game on Astro with English language and then for the later game that night, when everyone's pissed I'll test out showing True HD on all the screens with Malaysian Astro coming through the sound system to see if there is a delay. If there is then we'll just stick to Astro.

^Can only confirm that (some?) radio broadcasts have a delay.
The WC 'aint gonna be the same if I have to listen to them 2 thai dudes repeating the same sentences every 18 seconds and generally not having a clue about football!

Yep, I'm expecting a delay if I use Astro sound and True picture. If thats the case then I just wont do it. Astro have said they are showing it on channel 811 so I'm not worried. If there's no delay then its a bonus.

If True keep fucking me around then I'll just pull them and get them to take the equipment back like I did at my house. No big loss. It was only a deposit and we havn't paid the monthly subscription yet.

The only thing is that a few customers have seen the HD quality (on HD Ready screens) and its still a world appart from normal satelite. Astro have also announced some HD channels 'comming soon' so they'll just have to wait.

I watched England win the rugby world cup, in Mongolia with Chinese commontaters... Awful, had to get very drunk to get through the match. Let's face it; the Thais hate us. Love our money, but hate us! Stiking at our heart... evil bastardoses.

You'd be surprised actually when it comes to football. Our bar customers are majority Thai apart from me, filch and our mates. (+ a few tourists) The Thai guys actually moan and complain when a game starts off with Thai commentary because I forgot to switch it. They say "It doesn't sound original" (a few of them of course have still got their head phones on listening to it on the radio)

Won't you be able to save the 10,000b per TV TCC are charging the bars and restaurants for broadcasting their Thai bought TV rights then?

Would imagine the look on their face as you explain that you're broadcasting the Malaysian broadcast instead, and thus owe them nothing would be quite fuking priceless.

That would be nice, but I'm sure they'd come up with some bullshit law like they always do to say we broke the rules

Even though the fee was waived for bar affected by the red shirts a couple of days ago, like us. A very kind beer company had already paid.
