    Post your favorite game recommendations

Doesn't matter what the format/platform it is, just post your favorites.

    My first recommendation:

    Battlefield, Bad Company 2

I started playing this last night on the ps3. Its a first person shooter that starts in a World War 2 style, In the trenches with crap guns, and then progresses into modern warfare pretty quickly. Not sure what the storyline is about, I'd had a few whiskeys and kept skipping the movie scenes.

They game play is excellent. EA have really nailed the first person shooter engine just as they do in their sports games. The battlefield and shooting style is ultra realistic, you can shoot through trees, walls and vehicles and the bullets react just as they would in real life. You really feel like you are in a battle and your heart is pounding when you get out of a fire fight. The graphics are top notch, its almost like watching a movie. So far the battle has taken me through jungle war fare, snowy mountains and Afghan style desserts.

I'm not connected to play online at the moment but I can imagine that it gonna be pretty special when I do.

Gonna give this game 9/10. The only thing I can see wrong with it is that the subtitles to the movie scenes are way too small to read but I wasn't watching them anyway.

    Good job EA!

I haven't played it yet, but I just picked up 'Red Dead Redemption' from RockStar Games (the 'Vice City' creators) for the 360- it got a 9.5 out of 10 on GameSpt, so I have high hopes for it.

Been playing Total War-Napoleon for the last few months, at least a couple of hours a day. Absolutely engrossing, and nowhere near finished yet. (On the pc). Some of the battles can last a while, with 4,000+ soldiers on the battle field, all individually styled. Had to buy a new graphics card and another 2 gig of ram to handle the game though.

I'm lucky if I get a couple of hours per week.

I've only just finished playing GTA IV and I've no idea what the story was about as I only got to play 1 or 2 missions at a time over the last few months. Assassins Creed next.

Rock Band is still the game of choice if the kids want to play. If not, then Fifa World Cup 2010.

Yep, almost purchased it actually. However since it'll probably take me at least a couple of months to finish the first one didn't see the point.

You'll love how the start scene reminds you that *people of all faiths helped designed this game*

or in other words, we are not discriminating against the damn muzzies, or words to that effect.

I found an Amiga emulator for Ubuntu and have been playing Populous II on and off for the last few months.

Don't worry if you've never heard of it. It's like 20 years old, but still playable. Still the ultimate God game in my opinion. Because you actually play a God. I would love to see this title remade with some graphic goriness. Games today are so small in their outlook: command a soldier, command a unit, maybe even command an army. Why not go all the way: command nature. Nothing more satisfying than raising a burning lava volcano in your opponents lands, then putting it out with a tsunami. And if there's anyone left over, wage war whilst raining fire from the sky.

    For wannabe meglomaniacs.

    Me too.

I just finished 'Alan Wake'- not a bad game, but the cut scenes were interminable.

    So I won't

Any of the games based on Tom Clancy's books!

I have completed 3 so far and they have all been legendary. I also have a new voice commanded one, but no headset, unfortunately. The are, in my opinion, better than the Call of Duty series.

Actually, I've just started playing Skate 3. Man it's tough, but I shall persevere.

But thanks for the pointer, I'll give Bad Company 2 a crack. It'd better be good though...

Silent Hill 1 & 2 (by far the best in the series)
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (so much to explore and do!)
Grand Theft Auto Vice City (purely for the fact it's set in the 80s! Great soundtrack)

Looking forward to playing Red Dead Redemption...

All the old point and click games, Monkey Island 1&2, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle etc Why don't they make them like that anymore???

Heard Hard Rain is meant to be really good, anyone played that?

Yes! And I must admit I've really been getting back into it recently. I love the addictive simplicity of it.

I'll give you my Wii code and I'll race you online sometime, have to wait till I get home though.
