Wild Elephants in Deadly Clashes with Booming India

Watched this recently and found it interesting.

In Assam, India’s far east, wild Indian elephants are in deadly, daily conflict with a booming India.
Siobhan Heanue follows the deadly clashes as roaming elephant herds get squeezed by shrinking forests and a growing human population.
Animal attacks account for dozens of human deaths annually in Assam, but as the human death count grows so too does the elephant death rate as a result of human conflict.
    Foreign Correspondent Investigates

    Runs for 30 mins

I wonder if Thailand was once like this.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

    Last Breath (Netflix)

A brilliant documentary about a North Sea saturation diver whose umbilical broke when the support ship lost control in high seas, leaving him stranded 90m down in the dark with 5 minutes of air.

Nervewracking stuff with recreation mixed with actual footage of the incident.

^^ I will check that out.

I used to work with a diver who got trapped inside some concrete pipe covers near Ekofisk. Not deep water but deprived of oxygen and never dived again. The company gave him a job for life (which was a cop out compared to the compensation he would have got today). He has been plagued by bad health ever since. Apart from the obvious immediate dangers of saturation diving, the long term health effects are only just being realised as its such a young industry. A lot of guys who dived in the 70s and 80s are now paying for it.

So they've dragged out 8 minutes of footage into an hour?
    Sounds enthralling

This was better.. 8 hours of footage of O'Shea, Gibbo and crew spending a whole 9 months submerged at the bottom of the Champion ship

^ maybe you should watch some sporting documentaries and broaden your horizons.

Especially regarding your repo the other week which asked if I was the Heavyweight boxing champion of the world shown in my avatar and advising me to lay off the condiments.

Coming from where you do though, its understandable why you send sport to Coventry

I bet you are from Nuneaton or Beduff too

Great new Muhammad Ali documentary: "What's My Name".

2-part documentary with loads of previously unseen (by me, at any rate) footage of Ali from being a young amateur hopeful and prospect, to the social game-changer and boxing legend through the 60's-70's and beyond.
Winning an Olympic gold in 1960, Cassius Clay returned home supposedly a 'hero' to a town that wouldn't even serve him a meal in a "white" restaurant.. Brilliant docu and mostly all using Ali's own voice and narration, using assembled interviews and fight footage in a way that tells his story in his own words. Superb.

Used to play rugby against both teams in my day. Beduff took no prisoners. Same went for Coventry Welsh.

^ haha. I went with a mate from Bedworth to watch them play Nuneaton once. Beduff had been booted out of the league before I think he said.

It was gruesome, trying to bite each others ears off, fists flying. Then in the clubhouse after they were all best of mates.

Good old Saturdays. Things we used to get up to. I once took a shampoo bottle into the showers, post match. Like anyone that finds something free they're going to use it liberally. Unfortunately my shampoo bottle was full of Imaac hair remover and this cnut is the classic pig. He picks it up and liberally pours it onto his head and giving his hair a good rubbing, when all of a sudden he stops and starts smelling his hands. I got out there kinda quick.

That guy who took me to that rugby match told me some stories of what those rugby players get up to.

The Fire Run was one instance... Where they all stick paper between their ass cheeks, set it alight and see who can run the furthest.

Just airing on French TV5 (E subtitles). For the ones who know all the clues about Chinese (please no names here):

TV5 documentary about Chinese alternative medicine. Showing open heart surgery without anaesthesia when the heart is stopped for 30 min, then restarted, just with acupuncture treatment.

Acupuncture, osteopathy, hypnosis ...: do complementary medicines have super powers?

Adriana and Michel go to China to discover the secret of complementary medicine. Here, more than anywhere else, prevention is healing. And when we get sick, we first think of the natural ways to heal. Our duo is accompanied by Lionel Coudron, MD, yoga-therapist, phytotherapist, but also a graduate in acupuncture, nutrition, medicine and sports traumatology, and a meditation practitioner for 40 years.

Which complementary medicines are the most effective? How does acupuncture work? How can osteopathy work miracles? Why does hypnosis get rid of our phobias and addictions? How can some plants treat us? Why do you say that essential oils are so effective?

    Presentation: Michel Cymes, Adriana Karembeu.

    The Devil We Know.

Documentary about how US giant DuPont covered up the effects of Teflon poisoning on it's workers.
And also how the carcinogenic and highly toxic chemicals that compose Teflon have ended up in 96% of the population.

Throw away your non-stick frying pans noooooowwwww!!!!

I haven't used teflon cookware since the 1970s and refused to buy any when my wife wanted to. I did the washing-up anyway, so it didn't affect her. But I guess I have absorbed that crap from my mother's teflon and some cookware in restaurants.

One does what one can to minimize exposure.

Clicked on that today and thought 'I'll watch tonight with a beer'.

    It's now tonight.

    With a beer.

And I really should have noticed that it's the trailer and not the whole documentary.
