    BBC

I downloaded the entire series of "Earth Story" by the BBC, episodes 1-8, that went through the entire way that the earth began and how it progressed, took shape and became what it is today.

I was so fascinated, and wanted to share this with my wife, I downloaded the Thai subtitles so they too could enjoy the brilliance of this.

The synchronisation was pretty bad, and the subs didn't seem to match the spoken word...

It appears that the subs simply stated,

"You wouldn't have a clue about the world so forget it"

"You don't even know what the WORLD IS" "It has nothing to do with the colour shirts you wear"

"Why worry about the world being round, not flat, skin whitening lotion is far more important"

"Luke Cheen Moo, is only 10 baht for three balls down the street"

"The Panda will be on Channel 3 at 6.30-7am in the morning so don't worry, you'll only get a headache"

"The baby Hippo didn't die due to our incompetence, it had had enogh of life, it killed itself, therefore we are completely and utterley blame free!"

"Why worry about "continents when we simply call them countries" "you are trying to think too much, despite what we taught you at school - don't you ever listen"

"Yes, another holiday tomorrow- get the whisky out"

But that has simply nothing on those "Brilliant" "Creationists" out there from the USA that are trying to tell kids that the world is 2000 years old, and dinosaurs were put there to test our faith....I think the creationists were put here to test OUR patience!

Maybe you and your wife are, but that is quite a sweeping statement, although I should add that my girlfriends mother does look like one of the extras from the film, Planet of the apes.

Nice try Miggins, but last I checked the bible wasn't written by Americans...

And the earth is 5000 years old, not 2000...

Your subtitle descriptions were spot on though... Skin whitening cream is much more important than the creation of the earth, to most Thais...

The lack of a love story in Planet Of The Apes is not just a disappointment to cinema-goers. Actress Helena Bonham Carter says she was up for a bit of cross-species romancing, but Hollywood certainly wasn't.

The former queen of British corset dramas stars as a chimp in Tim Burton's 100 million dollar reworking of Planet Of The Apes. Some thought was reportedly given to love scenes between Bonham Carter's Princess Ari and the human hunk she falls for, played by Mark Wahlberg - but was later dismissed.

Although romance would have livened up this rather odd reworking of the 1968 classic, any prospect of hanky-panky between the two proved too much for Burton, the creator of Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood.

"I would have been up for more romance, but it's a family film, they didn't want to go there," admits Bonham Carter. "We did flirt, but there wasn't much else to do."

All we're left with is a kiss and some jealous looks from Ari when Wahlberg's stranded astronaut Leo casts eyes on the nubile human Daena (Estella Warren).

Oh I can believe it....fuck I nearly pissed myself reading that..I used to get thes same questions after she sat through a few "Alien" kind of movies.

The weird thing is, they believe all the Hollywood crap, but are shocked when you tell them that a doco is true!

Guess if you watch enough TV here, it kind of turns reality on its' head anyway.

Their lives seem to revolve around the complete opposite of reality anyway, this very minute, they are sitting in the other room requesting blessings from the Jowtee, probably praying the dog doesn't bark (meaning it has seen a ghost) - normally, I find the dog barks at drunks in the night not ghosts. Praying they don't see an owl!

Hoping they don't find a dead baby hippo in the garden etc. etc.

I love the way they buy the lottery paper, the one with all the winning numbers and then sit for half a day going through every lottery ticket they ever bought since they were able to walk, trying to see if they actually would have won it 50 years ago!

    They torture themselves.

Then, even if they didn't BUY a ticket...you can bet your bottom dollar that "IF I HAD HAD THE SPARE 40 BAHT"...I was going to buy that number! then they sit and curse and curse about their failure to by the winning ticket, and blame any number of excuses as to why they were "distracted" from buying it! (for the entire 15 days prior to the lotto!)

    Don't you just love it!

Suggested movies... I watched that Bad Lieutenant, the original, and it was a bit of a depressor, but the Nicholas Cage version ends up a lot happier, so that's a cert, and the full movie seems to be available.

The other one I watched was "Who Is KK Downey" it's a Canadian movie, (so Americans will lose the plot in the first five minutes) I cannot decide if it is good, or shit, I need to watch it again, but it was definately interesting..worth a look!

It had something about it compared to some of the recent crap that is around.

Talking about their Spirit Worship...don't ask me as I end up taking the piss, so they don't tell me anyway, a strange thing has happened here tonight.

Normally they have their little altar, with loads of plastic shit, toy santas, cowboys and indians, bits of stone that are "lucky", plastic ducks etc. that are "presented" on the alter for worship.

The ceremony usually takes place at our house, in the morning, the nine josticks, the wai'ing, blah blah blah. It has been a ritual as long as we have lived here, and to be honest, fair enough!

But tonight, there has been a sinister change, (I reckon they suspect a GHOST!!!) because the usual ceremony took place, only tonight it was repeated, which is not the norm here, then the burning josticks and ash and accompanying debris, have all been moved about 3 metres West, in fact, directly in front of the Tuner/Receiver surround sound Amp.

Something must be up, as this was never even switched on for over two years, but yesterday she switched it on and couldn't get the radio to work...I pissed about a bit, got some stations tuned in..now it has become a centre of worship....NO, I SIMPLY DO NOT ASK ANYMORE, besides, I will probably get lung cancer going into the room with the smoke they have managed to generate...Ignorance, sometimes is bliss!
