Did anyone go to the Rock 100 'festival' back in February? I know it's late to ask but I've only just joined TD.
One thing I miss living here is a decent gig and this was probably going to be the closest I would get to seeing some half decent acts without losing a month's wages. It was pretty shambolic - the usual Thai affair. You couldn't buy beer unless you wanted to queue up for 30 minutes for a 50 baht small plastic cup of Chang. So what happens? Scores of people are chucking cold cans over the waist high security fence.
You also can't take cameras or recording equipment. But you can take in a mobile phone with high spec digital camera built in.
I wanted to see Modern Dog - one of the better Thai rock bands. It probably would have been good if they hadn't amplified their music to the level of a small fleet of warplanes. It would also have been better if that hadn't then caused half of the PA equipment to blow up on stage. But they were good at improvising with no amps and no sound.
The best act were Franz Ferdinand who outshone the rest with their pretty slick set. And they must have had British engineers cos you could actually hear them properly. I didn't stay for Oasis so would love to hear from someone if they were good or crap. Personally I can't stand them, but then it takes all sorts.
I could only afford one of the two days. Glad I didn't fork out more to stand all day in a car park..
