    Recommend/Review an oldie.

Just finished watching Breakfast at Tiffanys.

Why does it take me so long to get around to watching these films. Simple, nice surprises. And Moon River playing as background throughout. Miss Hepburn looking stunning...

    Great Sunday afternoon fare.

Makes me wonder what other classics I'm missing out on. I've seen Casablanca & Citizen Kane. Give me some more.

Just rewatched Spartacus. "Do you eat snails?" Gay as Donatella Versace in a San Francisco bathhouse but perfect for a rainy afternoon.

this one is a brilliant example of a black comedy.

Edward G. Robinson and Joan Bennett turn out superb performances.

Gotta see this one if you like oldies.

Twelve Angry Men...well it WAS my first wife's favourite too...
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner ( Silitoes short story and this film had a BIG affect on my teenage years)
On The Beach ( mainly because Nevil Shute's book put the shits up me when I was a young parent and it has Fred Astaire acting)

    Just watched...

If this movie were remade today it would be an action-adventure with loads of explosions and a character story as a sideline. Bit of the opposite here.

Humphrey Bogart & Katharine Hepburn star. They're a bit aged, and Bogart appears a bit dumbed down to me (He was playing a Canadian though ). Bogart came away with an oscar for Best Actor though, so what do I know.

Some interesting bits from the wiki...
Although Bogart won an Academy Award for the performance, his entire part had to be rewritten after casting. The original screenplay depicted his character in thick Cockney dialect but Bogart was incapable of the accent.
Production censors objected to several aspects of the original script, which included the two characters cohabiting without benefit of marriage. Some changes were made before the film was completed.
It doesn't follow the normal storyline of boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back, and has a more nature-controlled storyline and only two characters, which is prolly why it gets a classic status for being a bit different.

The torrent I got was a pretty crappy pic quality and aspect ratio, with inconsistent sound, but the storyline & acting kept me hooked and could ignore the quality defects. A good sign.
