Tai is a fantastic recording star be recently somewhat eclipsed by Takkadan Choladar the new grammy star. Tai is very weak at concert performances having all the charisma of a piece of wood. Saw her last on Sun 8th and up against singers like Cathaleya Marasri and Sunaree, not to mention Takkadan, she was a bit overshadowed,

The CD quality is OK and was her first for PGM, she tells the story of the ban in her biography, still around I think

Norton do you have the date of the Lumpini concert? I thought her last one was two weeks before she died, I have a recording of it, it's in a hall and I don't think there was one at lumpini then. I met her son and he seems a nice kid but has been on TV this week accusing his dad of killing his mum, the family were on tonight, crying etc, bloody hell talk about airing your dirty linen in public! Saw her sisters at lumpini last Sunday and on the Sat, but never saw her sadly.

Huajai gradat - Paper Heart About 10 years old I guess. One of my favorites to request in the past but nowadays the bands just don't seem to know it well.

It was mid 91, so you are correct it was not her last. I believe she died in 92.

Not had the chance to see her in concert but really nice recordings. The missus loves her. Romantic stuff ya know.

I see Jintara in concert most every year. She always does an annual charity concert at one of the Roiet village temples. She puts on a damn good concert. Only 30 baht per person for us poor folks.

I'm not a big fan of pop of any kind, but my 13 year-old stepdaughter has somehow managed to drive this into my skull; I think it's a parable of Thailand caught between Thaksin and Another... the deus ex machina solution is the best part of the vid, even if it does come rather late.

If it happens in the near future, please post something about the when and where of the next one. My wife is from Roiet and it would make a great excuse for a trip home, even though she really doesn't like Jintara (and never mentioned the Roiet connection).

Hate it when that happens. Not a bad song however. I got that Bird song stuck in my head. The one with the silly arm waving. Think its called My Love.

Are you sure she does it for nothing? I have seen her over 60 times and have seen her turn up for no pay but only once to help somebody out, she's not a singer who does regular charity events. Singers at wat concerts are paid, although not at the usual rates. Went to her house once, if I could live anywhere it would be roi et, very pretty town.

Well you were lucky to see her then I wish I had. Jintara still does a lot of concerts in Bkk, seen her twice this month, once at BITEC then at lumpini, she can still put on a good show, but her days of having her touring band are long gone. There are other singers (from roi et) who sound almost the same as her but not as famous.

Recently there have been many Pumpuang concerts one on Sun 8th at Thai cultural centre had Ajareeya, Tai, Cathaleya, Takkadan, Earn the Star, Sunaree, Fon and Mangpor. Tickets were from 500-2500 baht so a special event. Some of the profits were given to Pumpuang's mum, but don't know how much. Saw most of these again at lumpini (channel 5 6 PM) there are shed loads of wat fairs on, and beer halls like issan tatweang deang still have major singers on. Siriporn is on this sunday at prakanong, just across the road from suk soi 62. Fans tell each other where the next concerts are on.

Often call the PA's in companies like Nopporn silver gold, or the singers themselves, or they will call us (rarely) The next big one I know of is the Siriporn show but she has a lot around bkk, two weeks ago Chalerpon and Burphan (lam cing) were at this same place but it seems to be a new venue and not been yet. Suk 103 has a concert area about 2/3 rds the way up and there is a place on suk 71 that often has concerts. Phai Ponsathorn is on at Issan Tatweang Deang in three weeks I think it is. many singers/companies have websites with concert dates

Did you go to the Siriporn show? I only saw one falang there sitting behind us. This venue is great for rainy season just inside soi Phra Kanong on the right. 120 baht and after Siriporn was lam cing from Ubon, not great as no kaen player. Siriporn will start tour again in Oct, thought she was looking a bit old and tired, pretty good show though. Did four concerts this weekend, Pee sadert at lumpini was rubbish IMO he is a rock performer not luktung, as a rock performer he is great however, but it's not luktung. Ying Tittekan yet again at Veteethai with Gung Sutirat who is a very good singer being a likay artist as well. Went to 7-4 on sat with Chayai with his sister, another likay also singer who is getting carried away with the very suspiciously generous mali's consisting of thousands of baht. I only went to see Surapons son Surachai, a real luktung singer who is still very impressive even though he is in his 50's he sang his dads songs, the 'Thai Elvis' although I never have seen the conection except they were both in the forces.

^Unfortunately, no. Conflicting commitments and a less than enthusiastic partner more or less put it off the agenda.

Thanks again for the info. I'm definitely going to put some effort into getting out to see a show or two in the next little while, even if it means going on my lonesome. If you have any tips or other info, it would be much appreciated.
