    Who should be James Bond?

    I watched Quantum of Solace at the weekend and enjoyed it as more of a fun Bond movie than the previous one. I enjoyed Casino Royale very much too but it did not feel like a Bond movie so much as the Pierce Brosnan standard blockbusters. The main problem with both the recent movies though is not so much the experimental direction but rather what a fugly little coont Daniel Craig is. He just always looks like he escaped from a council scheme, stole the tuxedo from a Marks and Spencer changing room and and hot-wired the DB9.

    It's just not right

    So who should be Bond?

    I would suggest minimum height 6 feet and no acne scarred blondes.

    My vote goes to Clive Owen

    I like Daniel Craig as Bond.

    He plays it as Bond should really be, not a camp joker like Roger Moore did. I've been told that in the books Bond is a bit of an ugly koont, big scar on the face or something. Didn't like the Brosnan Bond movies, mostly because of stupid storylines/impossible tech, not because of the actor.

    Peter Dinklage would make a good Bond

    No-one would suspect him of being a spy

    I like Clive Owen but i don't think he would do it now he's almost become a serious luvvie.
    Melk Ibsen would be ok if he was a Brit instead of a colonial.
    Owen Wilson.......... er ok..... no
    Jackie Chan would be the dogs doodahs, but he's colonial too.
    OK Looper you win. Hugh Grant with a stammer and lots of chicks and gadjets.
    (You can do his rump double for all the sex scenes).

Fleming emphasised Bond's Scottish heritage in admiration of Sean Connery's cinematic portrayal, whereas Bond's mother is named after a Swiss fiancée of Fleming's. A planned, but unwritten, novel would have portrayed Bond's mother as a Scot. Ian Fleming was a member of a prominent Scottish banking family.

    Clive Owen looks too smug for my liking. I thought the 2 Daniel Craig Bond films were great; realistic violence and a grittier approach to the Bond franchise.

    Although I'd nominate Johnny Vegas as the next James Bond.

    Fleming did not initially like Connery , thought him too rough.

    Surprised he has not been arrested at various immigration points for declaring false info as to his career

    ie ACTOR !!!!

    In the original Bond books Ian Fleming frequently said that Bond looked like Hoagy Carmichael. This is Hoagy Carmichael;

    So is this;

    I think Daniel Craig looks a lot more like Fleming's description of Bond than that fat poove Moore or the over-rated milkman Connery. Also, Fleming's Bond has a streak of violence, cruelty and sadism that Craig puts across nicely but none of the other Bonds managed to do.

    Yeah, James of late just wasn't James. Maybe we are just old though. The youngsters may not feel the same way. This is there James Bond and they hold the buying power of the future.

    He's just an actor. The real James Bond is in the books.

    If you read the badly written books, he comes over as a bit camp and survives mainly by pure luck and his own guile.
