just done watching Episode 19,

looks like they are heading for the suicide mission scenario in a battle finale with the Cylons, putting finally an end to this miserable series

only if they had done that 1 season ago, it would have been awesome. I bet the final scene goes like this: they all die in battle, and so do the Cylons, and they all wake up in some bath tube on a special "hub resurrection" planet !!!

Just watched it --- I have to say, I was not expecting much but it delivered nicely. Awesome ending to a great series -- almost makes up for the shitty first 10 episodes in season 4. Nice touch with Ronald D. Moore making a cameo during the last scene. I won't give anymore away -- but I was very pleased at how everything turned out.

Sorry, but the ending was sloppy and there were some big holes in the logic. I'll list the most glaring off the top of my head:

1. They gave up their technology and ships to rough it on a strange planet? No way, completely illogical.

2. What's the deal with Starbuck? If she was a ghost/angel like Head Gaius and Head Six why is she capable of corporeal feats? What the frack was she?

3. Hera was supposed to be key to the survival of humanity and Cylons but was just another kid once they got to Earth II. Why was she so special in the end?

4. This one is just a quibble, but why is that the raptors could FTL out of the landing bay in this episode but when Boomer attempted it they said the ship would implode?

5. Quite convenient how Racetrack's dead hand hit the nuke button just at the perfect moment to blow up the Bad Cylon's colony.


I have to give props to some fine acting though. Mary McDonnell was in top form all the way to the end (even though the prophecy about her was wrong). Grace Park was the hardest working and most pleasant on the eyes(God should drop me on Base Ship filled with number 8's). Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) was by far the most tragic and believable character in the series. Shame the writers exiled him to Scotland (??) though. Should have killed him off so he could be with Boomer "on the other side".

Unlike Butterfly, I enjoyed the series all the way through. Even the sloppy ending was by far better than 98% of anything else on TV nowdays.

Yes, that was shit. When they did that I was suspecting some shitty greenpeace morality bullshit; thankfully it didn't happen. When they landed in Africa, it still wasn't clear WHEN they were, so the decision to give up their technology could have been disastrous. Still, the idea of starting over - made it plausible and more believable as to the birth of humanity - humans started with nothing, so I guess the writers wanted to keep that parallel.

Angel. She was destined to bring the fleet to earth, which she did - in one of the best scenes in the series. I loved the flashbacks during that whole bit where she was inputting the notes/numbers.

3. Hera was supposed to be key to the survival of humanity and Cylons but was just another kid once they got to Earth II. Why was she so special in the end?

She was special in a variety of ways. First of all, she is the first cylon/human hybrid, and the key to humanity's existence. I'm guessing that this means that she is the mother to all of humankind, so we are all descendants from cylons and humans.
Secondly, she provided Starbuck with the key to finding Earth, which makes her uber-important.

My quibbles are as follows:

1. Adama. For a man who was always preaching about family first...he goes and leaves his only family to bury his dying love. Fracking bullshit.

2. The idiot that Boomer is married to --- forget his name. Anyway, he was clearly a goner when he got shot in the leg - looks like the main artery was bleeding out. And yet at the end he's shown limping along with Boomer?

3. We're still missing the info on the missing cylon, Daniel. Why was he boxed?


Again, I was pretty happy at the way things turned out -- most of the questions were answered, especially the big ones - like the purpose of Balthar's character along with Six, and how they found Earth. With this finale now 2 of my favorite shows are off the Air - BSG and The Shield. Luckily Caprica is coming soon.....

Must say I personally was disappointed with it.

Seasons 1 & 2 = Great
Season 3 = Average - the show was on notice that it was to end and must have had an effect on the writers.
Season 4 = Disapointing - when compared to the first 2 seasons. Would agree with the reference that it was sloppy.

Its a real pity that the standards of the first two seasons weren't there for the 4h season script. Don't get me wrong, there were moments in Season 4 which I thought were brillant - I'm talking overall (Damn shame really). Some good observations being made on here.

what the fuck was that all about ???? despite an impressive battle scene, and the usual awesome FX visuals (the best I have seen so far in a SFX movie), the fucking story was hopeless, not making any sense and no logic as usual, like the rest of the last 2 Season.

All the hype and promises (Cylon God, new breed) failed to deliver anything of substance. It was beyond sloppy, it was pure crap, with a cheesy/silly ending targeted to your typical brain dead American audience. Yet the best scene of the whole Season was the last 2 min in the final episode, where Caprica 6 and Baltard reflect on the whole point of that cycle and the lessons learned from it

i'm glad they came back to an old version of earth, but getting rid of tehnology was lame, starbuck's disappearance was very lame.
Hera as mitochondrial Eve was utterly lame.

should have turned up some 4,000 years ago and been responsible for the techno shunt that resulted in magnivicences such as the pyramids.

ienjoyed thefirst hour of the finale but the last 30 minutes was an awful 'god sort of did it' cop out.

they fukked up.

same with me, I will pretend the whole Season 4 didn't exist, complete garbage, trashed already the folder from the MacMini, and have downloaded since the HD version of Season 2

I might consider watching Babylon 5 just to remind myself than there are worst series out there than BGS Season 4
