Singer Amy Winehouse has been arrested after police were handed a video which allegedly showed her taking drugs.

On 22 January, The Sun newspaper published pictures allegedly showing the star smoking crack cocaine.
Footage obtained by The Sun appeared to show her inhaling fumes from a pipe.

I like Amy Winehouse's music, and I like Pete Doherty's too, but lets face it half of these drug struggles we see documented are a big game for them. They never seem to get into the real bother that most drug addicts do. You'll never see Amy Winehouse sucking cock down an alley or Pete Doherty going on a mugging spree.

Lets face it, they are wealthy people from wealthy families with massive egos doing drugs and getting away with it.

I can't say I have much sympathy for them and the 'hard' situation they always seem to try to portray themselves in.

It's very sad to see such a talent going to waste. Her singing talent is undeniably first class and my heart sinks when I see video clips of her fluffing her performances these days. She seems to be in great emotional pain and not at all enjoying herb life.

Her looks are of no importance to me. It's her voice that I pay to listen to. There's no doubt, however, that her appearance has deteriorated in recent months, almost certainly because of her lifestyle.

Many people who quickly come into money can't handle the freedom that it brings or the pressures that they suffer in order to get it. I've no idea what her life was like before she hit the public eye as a singer but something was probably lacking that drives her present behaviour.

I doubt whether she is seen as a role model by anyone who is not already well down the same self-abusive path as her. Anyone who appreciates music in a way that reveals to him Amy's talent will see that her drink and drugs lifestyle is destructive and wasteful.

Rather than condemn and judge her, perhaps we could pity her and wish her a recovery and a long career as a great, classic singer who could rank alongside all of the great female voices of the last few decades.

The only thing Amy Winehouse belted last night at her first UK gig in months was a fan -- and even that was pretty lame.

The video evidence shows Wino angrily swinging out at a fan in the crowd; her rep says the target of her swipe tried to touch her beehive. What's really shocking -- if you must listen to the audio -- is how bad the singing is.

Her main attraction is her notoriety. That's pretty much all she has going for her. Her talent is completely overrated. Billy Holliday would be turning in her grave to be compared to Ms Winehouse.
