Amy Wins Five Grammys and a Tooth

Posted Feb 12th 2008 2:33PM by TMZ Staff

The day after taking home several top honors at the Grammy Awards, Amy Winehouse emerged from her hotel sporting the latest rage to hit London ... a full set of teeth.

She's conquering her demons one tooth at a time.

    Winehouse in the Doghouse, again.

    Amy Winehouse in custody

Award-winning British soul singer Amy Winehouse was arrested today in connection with claims that she attacked two men during a boozy night out, Scotland Yard said.

"A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault after attending a central London police station by appointment. She is currently in custody," a spokesman said in a statement.

Grammy award-winning Winehouse, who has fought a public battle with alcohol, drugs, self-harm and an eating disorder and was charged with cannabis possession in Norway last year, was not named in line with force policy.

But she was seen by a crowd of photographers and reporters arriving at Holborn police station in a silver people-mover shortly before 5:10 pm.

Her spokesman said earlier that her appearance was in connection with an alleged incident in the north London district of Camden - home to a plethora of bars and clubs - in the early hours of Wednesday.

British newspapers said this week that she allegedly attacked two men, head-butting one and punching the other as she tried to hail a taxi.

Sabang, I guess this is our celebrity gossip thread. How fun.

    Meanwhile,
While news of Amy Winehouse's arrest is still developing……

New information regarding her currently incarcerated husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has just been release.
Blake, as we all remember, has been charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He was accused back in June 2006 of attacking James King, a pub landlord, at the Macbeth public house in east London. He was then alleged to have plotted with King to pervert the course of justice by bribing him to lie about what happened.

Of course he denies ever doing either.
Blake had a hearing on Friday. Wino, of course, didn't make it.

Fielder-Civil has sparked fears his marriage to the singer is in trouble, after he was seen blowing kisses to another woman at his latest court appearance.

She just goes from strength to strength.

It has been rumoured that she has been hired to compose and sing the new James Bond theme song, and now it appears she has indeed been working on that.

At the same time, looks like she got off on the assault charges with just a warning.

The statement went on to say she was looking forward to recording new music. She is working on the theme song for the new James Bond film.
Winehouse, 24, whose private life and battle with drugs have overshadowed her recording success, is said to be worth an estimated 10 million pounds ($20 million) in the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
Her earnings to date have taken quite a hit in my opinion. But, once she becomes a Bond girl, she should be in the pink again.

I still haven't heard any of her songs, but I after reading so many articles about her behaviour I strongly believe that she should be taken out.
If this is the role model for the younger generation then put Netto's bag over her head and tape it up, Get it over and done with now.

    MrsQ,

The issue is that she is a sloppy, drunk, stoned mess, and not particularly attractive, but that she has so much raw talent that is why everyone is so interested in her.

The kind of talent she has is what's causing all the forgiveness. Many people want to get rich off the biatch.

My friend knows this lot in London, he goes out to the same pubs. Think he knows her hubby more than her though.

Fantastic talent. Loved her albums so far.

That is just it though. The kids see
"sloppy, drunk, stoned mess, and not particularly attractive," and think " Oh I can be her"

Amy whitehouse and all the other dregs of Chav/Chavette society need to be culled.

If rehashing decades old music is 'raw talent' then she can keep it.

oh ffs.I can not understand why a poster on a wall is a role model....or a singer.Parents are role models.Just because you can kick a ball or sing a song does not make you a role model.

I despise celebrity scum like her, wasting thousands on fancy rehab clinics when it could be used to get normal people who don't have those luxuries but have taken the wrong path back on track. People who don't go around flaunting it making it onto front page of papers doing things which would get a normal person at least cautioned but more likely hauled in front of a judge.
I agree, this singer is given the opportunity (and a great voice) to have what thousands of other aspiring musicians would kill for, but what does she do the minute she achieves her ambition? Immediately sets about f*****g it up. She deserves to disappear into anonymity and never be heard from again. She would just go down in history as another "one hit wonder".

A one hit wonder with two albums?

She's a crack addict, a fine singer and I doubt in any position to become one of England's fine upstanding role models.

I guess we could all listen to a nice clean band like Coldplay instead.

Because little boys and girls look up to these people and think that they want to be just like them. They want to be David Beckham and have all the good things.

role model –noun a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, esp. by younger people.
    role model
    n. A person who serves as a model in a particular behavioral or social role for another person to emulate.
    role model
nounsomeone worthy of imitation; "every child needs a role model"
    role model

A person who serves as an example of the values, attitudes, and behaviors associated with a role. For example, a father is a role model for his sons. Role models can also be persons who distinguish themselves in such a way that others admire and want to emulate them. For example, a woman who becomes a successful brain surgeon or airline pilot can be described as a role model for other women.
    role model
    n. A person who serves as a model in a particular behavioral or social role for another person to emulate.
There you go you. One does mention a father yes, but as you can see that is the only one.

Young people look up to these superstars and want to be like them.

I know you are a kiwi and all you had to look up to were sheep so i wil give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you are a bit confused over the term 'role model'.

It's easy to call every performer, entertainer or sports personality a "role model." That is a pretty high burden for most people, particularly in the music business.

I don't think Winehouse is a large role model to young impressionable teens and pre teens. I would think they would not listen much to her music. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know the demographics of her listeners, but that is my impression.

I may have been the one that started this role model issue a few posts back.

There is no question celebrities influence the young but to what degree? Young people certainly are influenced by music industry celebrities to a far greater degree than other entertainment figures.

I still think she is a loser but in the end young folks who have even moderate parental guidance are not likely to emulate her to the point of her self destructive behavior. If they did, I and people my age would have been dead many years ago as were Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

When I said "one hit wonder" I was referring to her song "Rehab" which as far as I know is her only "hit". The Knack might have made 20 albums, but does anyone remember anything but "My Sharona"?

So really your problem isn't with her so much as with the way the media are treating her?
