Agree, if it wasn't for Robert Downey Jr and Tom Cruise the film wouldn't have made it to the very predictable end for me.

Ok one more, it's not the greatest comedy... but it is funny and entertaining and a good satire of the 'Wrong Turn' horror genre.

Have you seen Marwencol? I wouldn't be surprised if it's been mentioned already.
I always had Action Man when I was a kid, and models and stuff and I enjoy photography, so this film was great just for the fantastic dioramas, but of course the story of Mark Hogancamp is really moving too.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

    ^ Cheers, downloading it now

"Marwencol" is a documentary about the fantasy world of Mark Hogancamp. After being beaten into a brain-damaging coma by five men outside a bar, Mark builds a 1/6th scale World War II-era town in his backyard. Mark populates the town he dubs "Marwencol" with dolls representing his friends and family and creates life-like photographs detailing the town's many relationships and dramas. Playing in the town and photographing the action helps Mark to recover his hand-eye coordination and deal with the psychic wounds of the attack. When Mark and his photographs are discovered, a prestigious New York gallery sets up an art show. Suddenly Mark's homemade therapy is deemed "art", forcing him to choose between the safety of his fantasy life in Marwencol and the real world that he's avoided since the attack. I doubt that very much, but then maybe there's more to some of those people than first appearances would suggest.

Kobrien doesn't do deep; you may want to pop into his 'best Rocky movie' thread, or numerous other similarly inane efforts...

    No offence.

    Watched this last night.
This movie is perfectly geared to drug addicts. Obviously if you thought this was good then clearly you must have been spaced out.

I thought it was utter shite. Diabolical in fact.

Not a review per se, but a couple of Asian movies that you boys may not have seen and be into?

    1st up...

    Oldboy (2003)

    Korean flick.
Plot - Some pissed up dude wakes up in some kind of prison cell and stays there for a decade 'n' half not knowing what he has done wrong.
15 years laters he is released with a fist full of money, sharp suit and nice watch.
Tries to find out why he was inprisoned etc etc.
Bogon rating 7.75/10 (the ending is fucked up in a good kinda way).

    And now...

    Kung Fu Hustle (2003)

Chinese flick that twitches the ares muscles.

Plot - Down and out dude learns about his Kung-Fu powers and beats loads of guys up (what The Matrix fight scenes were based on basically)
The old-dear who smokes loads of ciggies is cool, but my fave is the cry-baby laundry dude who uses curtain ring things to smash people up.

    Bogan rating 8/10.

Some of the scenes are set in a cartoonie (is that a word?) way.

    Finally...

    Battle royale (2000)

Japanese weird film that the Hollywood bigwigs have tried to copy, but failed.

Plot - A class of Jap kiddies have been dumped on a remote island in the middle of nowhere and have to kill each other in order to win the prize of life.
Last student standing is allowed to live and return home.
What is cool is that the students all get a rucksack with a bit of water, food and unique weapon!

    Bogon rating 7.5/10

    Well worth a butchers.

All can be downloaded with a simple search.
Please report back with any additional info/reviews of the movies above.

Good choices.. I'll look out for the Korean one, but don't really enjoy Korean cinema.. cultural differences.

Battle Royale is great, the sequel is pretty good too.. love to see those jap babes in school uniforms blowing the juice outa each other.

Kung Fu Hustle is another great movie... definately an influence on Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

NAAK a.k.a Deep In The Jungle (2009)

"Nawin (Jesdaporn Pholdee), an army secret service agent decides to withdraw from a scientific investigation because of unlawful procedures involving International Forces. Although he has tried desperately to avoid the illegal acts of the armed forces, it seems the harder he tries the more involved he becomes. He is constantly under surveillance no matter where he goes or what he does which makes him realize there is more to the situation than that meets the eye. Jin (Ploy Jindachote), a young woman whom Nawin once saved from a brutal attack, is undergoing a strange transformation within her body as her blood circulates through mutation. This transformation on Jin is what Nawin believes the International Forces are after, the half breed mix between animal and human. Nawin decides to help Jin by taking her back to her birth place. As he leads her home, her illness seems to subside. They will soon grow close and fall in love. "

Watched the first half of Lincoln Lawyer tonight. It was going really well until my player started messing around. Looks like a good movie. I'll let you know when I've got it fixed.
