    Dragon's Den / The Reinventors

Both of these reality shows are based on inventions.

In Dragon's Den regular folks must pitch their inventions in front of a bunch of super-rich, successful entrepreneurs, who will inject money into the business in exchange for a variable controlling interest. But usually they say "no" to ridiculous ideas (like diapers for pets). Great show!
    FOREVER CHELSEY by Omayma Moharram

Omayma Moharram has developed a specialty line of diapers for dogs and cats.
    There's a UK version:

    and a Canadian version:

    Inside the Dragons' Den

Here's another interesting one from the UK, also involving inventions. It's just started here in Canada:

    The Reinventors

Dick Strawbridge and his son are on a mission to bring back to life great inventions of the past, and discover what they reveal about the way people lived then.

From the spinning jenny to the turnip cutter, The Re-Inventors unearths some of the weird and wonderful contraptions of the past, not only bringing the invention back to life but revealing through the invention’s story, the local history of the area.

Using their ingenuity and skill Dick and his team must solve a design problem from the past in the space of just 24 hours. In re-designing, re-engineering and re-testing these fantastic machines, the Re-Inventors will reveal the lost history of the invention, shedding light on both the device itself, its inventor and society at the time.

Using all the latest tools & techniques, too. I'm not a fan of reinventors. The contraptions are inevitably crap.

There's an Aussie inventions show as well, but it's a slightly different formula. Most of the inventions seem to be about trapping vermin or stuff you can bolt on to your 'Ute'.

    Strange bunch those Aussies.

I reckon "rootin in the back of the ute" was the best ute invention ever.

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Great show is that! Watched it when I was back in NZ last. Don't know about the "super-rich, successful entrepreneurs" bit though - I can't recall her name but I think that the woman panelist has presided over the bankruptcy of more than one Co.

In the Canadian one they're all well-off and successful (one guy's worth $750 million) and they're investing their own money.
