Budget Projectors - really budget projectors.

I have a massive white wall in my lounge and years ago I bought an Optoma 720p projector (wasn't that cheap but I've had great value out of it). Anyway, I've been through two bulbs and they aren't cheap (especially now), so I thought I'd look at what's on the market today.

I looked for LED (not DLP - they cost a GBP1,500 upwards) projectors with five star ratings, and eventually settled on the Vivibright f40.

Check this out for a spec:

    • Full HD 1080P Native Resolution]: 2019 New upgraded LED projector provides standard 1920/horizontal and 1080/vertical native physical pixels, 15,000:1 contrast ratio, matches the best sound quality, as well as true color LCD panels.
    • [Up to 95% More Bright]: With 4200 Lumens LED white light, this movie projector offers vivid and bright colors even in daylight enviroments, up to 300" big screen, ideal for gaming, home or outdoor theater, video projector and PPT presentations.
    • [SPDIF for HiFi Sound Quality]: The 1080P projector with 2xUSB ports, HDMI, Audio out interface and 2xIR receiver is compatible with most of devices. Professional SPDIF out interface and 2 built-in 10w chamber stereo speakers offers you amazing HiFi experience.
    • [Respond Quickly & Smoothly]: Equipped with BOP-dependent 1080P LCD panels, our projector is quicker than most smart TVs and there is no lamp warming up time needed, perfect for a game projector.
    • [3 Years Warranty]: Our HDMI projector with longer lifespan LED lamps(exceed 50,000 hours ) is guaranteed for 3 years, if you have any problem, please feel free to contact us. We offer 7/24H friendly customer service.

    Pretty decent, right?

So I bought one. Rather than plug my satellite into it, I stuck a Firestick in the back (it has powered USB ports, too). Bluetooth connection to my soundbar took seconds.

Unbelievable picture quality for something this price. I had it at about 120" and it was clear as a bell.

Comes with a carry bag and has speakers as well so you can take it anywhere (not too heavy to carry).

So if you are pricing up really big TV's I'd have a look at this as an option.

Reason being that it costs Bt7,300!

I had to do a double take.

It really is a superb bit of kit for the price, and I don't say that very often.

Of course my esteemed fellow TDers may have other options.

Added: The bulb is not replaceable, but guaranteed for three years, but expect 50,000+ hours.

If you watched ten hours a day, that would last you 13 years.

At that price, it's a steal.

Beats changing TV's all the time, and there's not enough (affordable) bandwidth here for decent 4K yet anyway.

who needs a TV these days, when everyone else watch TV on their small laptops or mobiles

these gadgets are for sport loots or old timers who can't grow with their time,

Projos are so 2000s, cheap and not really useful

maybe to watch YouPorn on your ceiling in your bed, could be useful, hum actually not a bad idea

let me book one, thanks Harry

Buttplug probably doesn't have room for a TV in his one room hovel with ensuite shower/toilet and single ring cooker on the bedside table/wardrobe.

I bought one of these little units - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32852864507.html

portable , and with the nettv app can pop the cricket and the rugby up on a wall easily

good enough resolution - not 1080p

Seriously, for another $40 you could have got this Baldrick. It's a belter.

I love the fact I can bung the Firestick in it.

Admittedly takes up a bit of space but not heavy.
