Question Is Mel Gibson a knob?

I have just endured yet another of his films, Apocalypto - here in my nice bungalow at gusG's resort - which is very nice I should add.

Anyway, It's probably his best movie which isn't saying much - as a director he is like a child who loves blood and gore and it's not actually a bad film toward the end once he stops pretending he's a serious artistic director and just does what he wants which is lots of action and blood and rolling heads.

    But is he a knob?
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

Mad Max is a film he was in, not directed.

He seems to have an obsession with blue body paint and spurting blood.

...And he's a knob, a smug overly confident one too.

I was in HS, working part-time at a cinema when Mad Max came out. I watched it dozens of times, and liked it.

    I now think Gibson's a twat.

Love his movies, especially the ones he's directed. His latest, Apocolypto, is one of the most violent films I've ever seen, but very well-done.

And yes, he is a knob. Moreso than Cameron Diaz but less than Tom Cruise.

    He's a knob.
He's anti-English and twists history a la Braveheart, or, The Patriot.
He's anti-semitic and an outspoken big mouth for the Catholic church.
He's not an Aussie, he's a New Yorker.
I enjoyed his Lethal Weapon day's and most of his other films. The only movie of his I liked that he directed was We Were Soldiers. A agree with TGS, he's a crap director.

Unfortunately, two thirds of the English speaking world and 100% of the non-English speaking world now think that Mel Gibson's version of events in Braveheart and Patriot are factual.

There appears to be a lot of versions of how England was in the good old days; from Robin Hood to the Black Adder. I'd like to think that the Black Adder had it right because I love his series.

Lets not forget his early role in Gallipoli.
He's a Ho, albeit well paid.
He's an actor, so what do you expect?
Of course he's a nob end.

I wouldn't worry about them. Anyone who bases their historical analysis on Hollywood movies will be taken care of by natural selection.

Don't forget his early bit of acting in A Year of Living Dangerously. As far as Apocolyto goes it took me awhile to relax watching it. The camera shots are short and the sequence of shots winds up being rapid. He doesn't seem to know how to hold a scene for any length of time. Probably due to the poor dialog in his movies. You'd think with all the jungle to film there could have been some longer panning shots. The scene of them crossing the river was even chopped up. Overall I liked the film though.

Is he really ? I thought he was born there ? is that just an act ?

I think the production and the directing has put alot of pressure on him and make him look like a pretentious twat. As soon as someone is trying to do something out of their career, they are going to change and make a lot of people mad.

Well if they every made most of these movies as factual,no bugger would watch them. There has to be an underdog fighting insurmountable odds.

Has made some good movies though.

Lethal Weapon and Once we were Soldiers stand out.

Mel Gibson is an entertainer. He is funny to watch. His opinions are unimportant. He's stupid fucking attention whore. This a common trait among entertainers. His job is to do funny tricks for us, make us laugh. He does this fairly well, I think. I've never met the man he may a nice enough person he may be a real jerk. he does his job well enough, except when he tries to create.

The movies he has made are mostly crap OTT, yet weak, attempts at somethng, I'm not sure what. "B" movies of epic length. Apocolypto was the only movie he made worth watching. Although it was a "Big" movie, it was only passable, mediocre.

He should act in another lethal weapon; leave the movie making to someone else.
