    Cool Your Namesake

Well a couple of weeks ago I fianlly succumbed to one of these irritating websites that 'friends' are always inviting me to, you know the type - WAYN, Friendster, and the most famous - My Space.

I subscribed to the one called Facebook and have had a couple of messages since, but more interestingly, I discovered seven people with the same name and surname as me, which was a surprise because my surname isn't that common.

There were a couple of girls there also who were not only hot but looked about the same age group, which was even more puzzling because:

To my knowledge - my name had only been mistaken for a girls name because a seppo couple called Mr and Mrs Diaz gave their daughter a boys name and she just happened to become a huge overrated movie star.

Due to this I had expected with a sigh that there wuld be many more girls of the same name post 1996 or whenever she hit the big time, to go with the ever growing multitude of baby Britney's and Paris's being rocked back and fourth outside countless UK town centre McDonalds's by cider drinking townettes.

Anyway, on this Facebook it gives you the option to 'poke' people so I might give it a try. Other than 2 fit birds there's a big black seppo guy who looks like a decent chap, and a kid in a Superman costume.

Maybe I will 'poke' them all and say, "Hey, you guys all have the same name as me which is like so weired, how about we all be friends?"
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

    I dislike facebook.
    don't see the point.

think it's all a bit of teenage high jinx.
i mostly dislike it because the female members of staff at my work spend every spare minute on it, biting people and turning them into vampires and such like.
I might block it from the work pc.
    how do you do that?

^ Don't be such a killjoy, shame on you Nooners - I've already found 3 people I'd lost contact with before the advent of e-mail.

Hate to break it to you but there's teenagers using Hotmail too.

no-one with my name on facebookm but yeah, I've re-constructed a lot of lost friendships (lost due to travelling nature) and already partied (hard) with several of the guys, and partied really hard with a couple of the gals, some of whom we haven't seen for over a decade, when we were still too young and shy to do the things we can now. Facebook is also pretty good in the sense that you really just hook up with people you are sure to have known, unlike myspace where everybody and everybody can be your "friend"

Yep, I'm a fan of face book, and spend some five or ten minutes there per day.
But I hate all these vampire/zombie applications and reject them more frequently than I wank.

    ^He's probabley you

Hey Scampy your name means "Broken Nose" so it's not something you should call a girl. You might pass that on to Miss Diaz.

^ Crooked nose to be precise.

I still don't understand how Cameron became a birds name, was it Mr & Mrs Diaz that started it or did it happen long before?

I didn't realise that is what it meant. The name suits her. She actually does have a crooked nose.

Seems to be an American thing. You've got Drew Barrymore also, clearly a bloke's name, and Andy McDowell to name two off the top of my head.

Lot of bots on there - the ones who want you to be their mate. Look how many mates they have thousands. I can hardly buy that.
