Headphones. Using them as the Mancave's main sound system.

The set up for the last few years has been a 5.1 Surround Sound system, surrounding the sofa. Computer used as the media center, 50 inch FHD as the screen.

Sound's great, but how do wireless headphones compare.

It might mean the main mrs comes in less to watch stuff together.

Would have to get a bluetooth or some sort of wireless adapter for the PC, to send the sound to the WiFi/Bluetooth headphones (Me know nothing about such things.)

Read that there are 5.1 headphones around nowadays (well I never)

So.... better sound watching a movie/tv show/goat porn with a 5.1 Surround System or with a decent pair of bluetooth Headhones?

I tried those marshalls in Singapore duty free.

Not loud enough and not all that great. Bass/lows were shitty.

    Would not buy.

They make headphone amplifiers as well, maybe they would be better with one I dunno, but I have a pair of in-ear Shure headphones that murder those marshalls.

If I was looking I would look for an amp/headphone setup.

Unfortunately, my hearing doesn't justify the very best headphones on the market, so when recently looking for bluetooth 'buds' that have good connectivity (iMac, Phone etc), I looked at various reviews and came up with the conclusion the Bragi 'The Headphone' (yup, stupid name for buds) fitted the bill. Just ordered them for 4942 baht and should get them within the next few days. I already have some decent wired buds, but having ones without cables will be so much better.

A review of the Bragi's here:

and another review of several brands here:

All this time I thought too much made you blind.

Does it make you deaf as well?

Sorry Slick ... must be cheap shot Thursday!

    Cheers Dil, and others.

I'd need them to be wireless so I can jump up and block the door when someone comes in unexpected.

Would like wireless and 5.1... if they are actual 5.1 and it makes a difference.

5.1 headphones are shit. Most are designed for gaming and work like crap. You are better off with a high quality audiophile headset. The sound stage will make them sound like surround sound especially with something like Dolby Atmos for Headphones or Windows Sonic. These will emulate 5.1 sound. If ya got the jack I would get the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0.

What were you looking to spend? Are you looking to be a cheap bastard or get something decent?

    Hes looking on Lazada ffs

Dont listen to half of the bullshit from self proclaimed audiophiles, we all have different hearing and in my case Harmon Kardons cheaper sister company JBL are great and sound the same

Theres a good shop on 3rd floor of Emquartier that always has discounts on JBL. Its next to the Sony store. Youre better off testing them to see what you like

Ya I would agree with this. So many blowhards in that hobby its unreal. HK and JBL are good brands for sure. If you want to go cheaper but still good then Sennheiser HDR 185 is a good bet. Yes I like Sennheiser.

Me too...but headphones never equal a sound system. Watching a movie with headphones on would get tedious to me.

*Edit the one you linked is the wrong model. You linked the RS 185. Totally different model.

JBL fit into the 5-8k price range.

Is there anything specific to look for when choosing? (besides testing them if buying them in person and not online) any materials or dB levels or whatever that makes one better than another?

The size of the drivers is important as you want the bigger the better. That's why Sennheisers sound so good.
