    Best Films of 2017 ?

Here are the best 6 pack someone choose.

In 2017, Hollywood soldiered on in the determined belief that big budget blockbusters can drag audiences away from
    the prestige television couch.

    Certain Women

Kelly Reichardt's astounding, immaculately crafted film shouts in whispers. A drama of subtle inflections, it unfolds in three chapters,
each with female protagonists, set against a cold, arid Montana landscape.

    My Happy Family

It's not easy leaving the life you know and starting again, especially if you're a wife, mother and daughter in an extended family
    who lean on you.

    Nocturama

Few films have risen to the challenge of documenting the paranoia and perversion of homegrown terrorism in the contemporary West.

    Kong: Skull Island

It was a toss up between this and Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok for best Hollywood action movie this year.

    Get Out

This film proved that cinema — and what's more American genre cinema—still speaks powerfully to the present moment.

    The Lost City of Z

With a blink-and-you-missed it release window, this epic adventure about British Amazon explorer Percy Fawcett is an
example of a filmmaker working in a classical tradition at a very high level.

    Personal Shopper

On the surface, Kristen Stewart is an actress who seems to have a narrow range of gestures, inflections and tones.

    Any of them any good?

Any films of 2017 you reckon should make the list?

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

Get Out was almost inarguably good. Heard of Kong but don't care. Never heard of the others.

It is of course highly subjective.

I had to say I liked both Get Out and Wind River.

I was entertained by the new Thor and Guardians II.

But the pretentious shite has been particularly pretentious.

I mean Personal Shopper? It was gobshite.

    And they were probably right.

I should add that I have been to the flicks twice this year, once voluntarily to see the new Blade Runner which turned out to be a pile of crap, and once when I was asked to take some visiting family to the flicks to see Thor, which turned out to be amusing and entertaining, but I would equally have enjoyed it at home.

Only saw Kong, typical blockbuster fare and the lost city of Z which was rather poor, I'd vote for something with tits in and preferably non PC.

I haven't been to a cinema for a couple of years (haven't watched any TV at all either), but that Kong flick looks okay for a check the brain at the door matinee.

Agreed, pretty much. I lost interest in the Lost City of Z about halfway through and never got back to it, tbh.

"Get Out" is a good film, though. The "offing darkies" theme might be of interest also.?

Be nice to see a film where darkies were allowed to be baddies again, not letting them do evil roles is just as bad as always casting them as maids and janitors. Can you imagine a film with the devil in it being given to a black?

Can you imagine a post where Thai3 doesn't try and get a rise by posting juvenile attempts at pretending he hates niggers?

It seems to be the presence of them in movies at all that offends Xanax, so it's by no means certain that "offing darkies" would appeal. Good punt though.

I enjoyed it though, also 'Baby Driver', 'Dunkirk' and the French cannibal movie 'Raw' for a good gross out.

I too managed about 15 minutes of 'Lost City of Zzzzzzzz'

the movies that are generally regarded by critics to be the best of 2017 haven't even been released widely in the west yet....much less thailand.

for me, mudbound is the best movie i've seen this year.

    and bladerunner 2049 was good.

    Oh!

    Manchester By The Sea

Release date actually 2016 but 'The Guardian' has it in their top ten, so I'm having it.

    Not much to it.

Dilly Does A Donkey, which although being a minor release, was better.

I was persuaded to go and see Kong in a cinema in Doha, against my better judgement.
I hate to admit it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tried watching Z twice now. Fell asleep both times. TBF the second time I had manflu.
