    Hilarious Oscar fuck up

So Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty get up on stage and announce La La Land as Best Picture.

Halfway through the acceptance speech, someone realised they'd given them the wrong envelope and Moonlight had won it.

    A real Steve Harvey moment!

And someone's in for a real bollocking.

I was a bit surprised that the "Teletubbies" had been nominated in the first place, tbh.

I see the Academy bowed to political pressure and named Moonlight best picture. Might be a good flick but I don't see the point of awarding movies that nobody sees or wants to see.

And there was another fuck up. Apparently in the In Memoriam section they put the right name up but the picture was of her friend who was still alive.

The Japanese wouldn't allow that, as they've owned Hollywood for quite some time now.

What an Oscar winning trumped up hoax, it was done on purpose to get max publicly.
So that BBC news could replay over and over again how graciously the first ever Muslim winner took it so well.
    Yes I am cynical.

In what way? ... I'm curious to know.

For example, and I know that Disney is not Hollywood, but Disney is a Publicly Listed Company.

Maybe I need the 'owned' bit defined.

    Thanks

The Oscars were watched this year by the smallest number of viewers since 2008. How's that diversity thing working, fellas?

I don't see cause and effect in that. I see that movie viewership is down signifcantly. Content created for the small screen is every bit as good if not better than what is created for the big screen hence interest is down.

Probably true. My siblings (3) all live in the US and almost never go to the movies. Netflix, Amazon, and others provide great content, without the prohibitive prices. I just looked at a list of all of the Oscar best picture winners over the years. Some great movies, but in the last decade or so, not so much. Just not making great ones.
In fact, I have veered heavily into foreign TV series and occasionally movies - far more intelligent - if you can find ones with good, hard-coded subtitles.

And to be honest there are few films that merit viewing on anything bigger than a 55".

^Including the remake of probably the most epic 'big-screen' movie "Ben Hur".
