Stannis has his daughter, Shereen who is afflcted with greyscale, burned at the stake to appease the Lord of Light and his own ambitions. Queen Daenerys is rescused by her black dragon after the Harpy's rebel after the murder of one of their leaders.
The final episode of season 5 is next week. Will Cersei be forced to walk naked through the streets of King's Landing in atonement for her crimes? Will Tyrion be murdered by the Harpy's in the fighting pits? Will Jon Snow be stabbed to death by his brothers in Black?

Bran and Rickon seem to have been abandoned by the writers on the other side of the wall perpetually. In the book Bran merged his consciousness with a tree . Their place in the story seems pointless now. The writers seem to love killing off characters who have lost their usefullness in the narrative. Will Shereen re-emerge from the flames, protected somehow by her greyscale, and become some kind of dragon-human hybrid? I doubt it.

In the season finale a lot of important heros and villians met their demise:

-Jon Snow killed by his black brothers for his alliance with the wildlings.
-Stannis beheaded by Brianne.
-Myrcella poisoned by Ellaria Sand.
-Queen Selyse hangs herself in greif over her daugters sacrificial burning.

Other events of note:

-Tyrion reunited with Varys.
-Daenerys captured by Dothraki riders with no help from her Dragon.
-Arya blinded.
-Cersei walks naked through the streets of King's Landing as punishment for her crimes.
-Sansa and Reek plunge from the castle walls to escape from Ramsey Bolton.
